Help with home office paint color
Comments (1)I did the same Office overhaul at this time last year. I used BM Gray Wisp 1570. It is the BM version of Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage - my all time favorite wall color. I used BM White Dove on the trim. While searching for colors for my laundry room, I've come across this site regarding top selling BM paint colors by room. There is alot of information there and could get you heading in the right direction. Comments (0)In our 1950s cottage-ranch home there is a large rectangular room which was originally a storage room that we have been using as a combined bedroom and office for the last few years. This is the year to pull up the nasty carpet and paint the walls. I've little experience in decorating so here is the situation: Large rectangular room is on the south side of the house, has one small front window facing front yard (west) and a set of east-facing french doors to the back patio with another small window to the right of the doors, There is little natural light except for the morning so the room is never very bright with sun. and always has a cool feeling about it which is nice in summer. Room is currently painted a pale butter yellow which we do not care for. We also plan to put down some Armstrong vinyl plank flooring which looks like wood. We have three large dogs which are in and out of the room and the back door is used for them to go in/outside. We are leaning towards a very pale gray, perhaps a warm gray paint for walls which would look nice with the flooring and use accent color (red?) in spots. We want to go for a serene Asian/Japanese kind of feel to the room. Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!...See MoreHelp choosing blue-gray paint for home office
Comments (5)Warning: (learning from just painting Grey in my living room that has loads of windows and light) Most Grey colors turn out much darker looking once you paint them on all the walls. We spent $2,000 to change the grey in our livingroom to a lighter grey because the first one turned out too dark and that was a grey that was much lighter than any you have choosen. I had even gotten a sample and painted one wall to test the color but when the walls all reflect off each other it gets way darker! I would test Beacon Grey or Breath of Fresh Air. We ended up using SW 7071 Grey Screen You can see in this photo how much darker it can get depending on the shadows and lighting. Here it is in the day light: During the day it is almost baby blue but at night it is VERY grey....See MoreHelp choosing Benjamin Moore paint colors for new home
Comments (12)@Mary Elizabeth @celerygirl @cawaps For those curious, after all the deliberation we ended up going with White Dove for the whole floor (except bedrooms / office, and kitchen backsplash area, which we havent decided on yet). Overall we really like it. One thing we might change is the window wall and fireplace wall in the north facing dining room with the skylight. I think the color shows a bit too cool on that wall due to the north facing light and lack of light hitting those walls. We may go with something like Revere Pewter (since it is warm without too much yellow); possibly Grey Owl although that may be a tiny bit too cool; or October Mist like @celerygirl suggested (do you still like October Mist for those walls now that you see white dove in here? We may also consider re-doing the living room wall that faces the kitchen, also Revere Pewter or soemthing. But overall we really like the White Dove all around. We ended up with Hale Navy for both sides of our front door and i think that turned out great too. Didnt get great pics of that but i think it works well (house exterior is a lightish neutral grey) These are from around 6pm And these around 3:30 Any thoughts on paint color for the fireplace? If we go with Revere pewter on the fireplace and window wall, i think we would need ot keep fireplace light, even maybe white dove. But if we keep the wall White Dove, should we do Revere Pewter fireplace? I’ll try to get some more pics today around midday with more natural light too....See MoreCDR Design, LLC
