What color should I paint the door and trim around the window next it?

What do y’all think? Open to basic to eccentric options.

All the trim should match so I would paint the sidelight to match the other trim. The door can be any color to complement the orangey/brown roof. Maybe something in the blue family

Thanks for all the comments. First let me add that this staircase is not a focal point in the house. It is in the back of the house, and originally had a door at the bottom. busybee3 - Yes the rest of the trim in the house is white. Good point... mayflowers - Yes it is 3" board up there. All of the trim in the house is 2-piece (flat boards with base cap). Some of the original molding is taller. I was torn on painting it white or brown. I thought painting it the same as the stairs/landing would tie it together. So if I paint that white, then I would either have to paint that little triangle of stringer white, or have a little brown triangle there by the first step after the landing. justgotabme - Yes, I thought about painting the risers, but they were white before and I didn't like them. And I don't have a lot of time left to repaint them. We hope to wrap everything up and get the house listed next week.

The first thought that came to mind when you said "more contemporary" was black or deep green. Here are some inspirational photos. You didn't ask, but I would also remove the old schrubs and put in new landscaping. It would really move the home's look to the next level. Paint or replaced the front porch handrails your trim color and if you could replace them, select straight line ironwork. Add a new stainless mailbox and house numbers and change out your lighting. All these details will help you achieve the look you are aiming for. However, you can't totally change an "English bungalow" to a modern building without more structural changes, which I wouldn't do at this stage.

The look is DARK so I would go a shade darker with your trims. What you do with the house you match the car port. As far as wood walkways...I would look for a paint with texture so it's not slippery when wet. That's is a lot of maintenance. When you have the time I would replace wood walk way with pavers of some sort.

Do you have any ideas on how you are going to landscape? The current color is too yellow against the bluer/grayer white exterior. Here are some ideas:

Waht is behind the wall on the left? IMO what ever it is there should be awindow there .Do the same trim on all the windows so like the one on the right. This is kind of MCM so do you want to go that direction? I think that left space was agarge wht isit now. IMO as long as the driveway goes there it will always look like a garge . I need to see a pic from further back to see if there is a way to change the parking. Post the pics here in a comment DO NOT start another post. If MCM is your thing this is my fave for exterior colors , doors and landscping
