Should I paint the doors and trim white?
Comments (10)I also like the wood, but if it looks bad in person, I understand wanting to paint it. A single door is much less work to replace (or paint a fun color) than painting all the wood in your house. If you do choose to paint all the trim, I would start with the wood wall and the stair railing. Those will look fine with the wood trim. Then paint or replace all the doors, then paint all the window trim, then the rest of the trim. I suppose you could also do that in reverse order, but the baseboard trim feels like the most intensive job....See MoreWhat color should I paint the exterior trim and door?
Comments (10)The first thought that came to mind when you said "more contemporary" was black or deep green. Here are some inspirational photos. You didn't ask, but I would also remove the old schrubs and put in new landscaping. It would really move the home's look to the next level. Paint or replaced the front porch handrails your trim color and if you could replace them, select straight line ironwork. Add a new stainless mailbox and house numbers and change out your lighting. All these details will help you achieve the look you are aiming for. However, you can't totally change an "English bungalow" to a modern building without more structural changes, which I wouldn't do at this stage....See MoreShould I paint the oak (presumably) windows/trims/doors white?
Comments (24)The video had dark wood trim much darker than the floors and looks much better lighter and brighter. The original posters wood trim matches her light oak floors and looks nice but it is her house so if she wants to paint it to make her happy that is up to her. Or she can see if a wall color will help. My bedroom's headboard does not make me feel good so I am going to make my change also. With all the opinions, it is best to then decide who YOU feel and what you want to do. Thank you so much Celery, Visualization, Rendering Images for your video. I love creamy and bright walls and that is why I feel a headboard for me without the dirty looking too busy headboard would make me happy. I am still wondering how much canned lighting in my ceiling would help me feel happier....See MoreWhat color should I paint the doors and trim of my house?
Comments (5)I would LOVE nothing more than to paint the house white but my husband LOVES the yellow. Also the yellow is a very well done stucco and in great condition still. The house has a gate around the entire perimeter of the property that is also yellow stucco and covered in vines and landscaping if I paint it white, I'd have to rip all of this out and replace it too. I think I am going to have to paint the trim and doors for now and live with the yellow for the time being. :,(...See Morechloebud
