am I crazy to consider these exterior colors?
Comments (12)I took a stab at this, for what it's worth (use some imagination, please! ;D ). Apologies, white window frames didn't turn out well since this was a B&W sketch. I guessed at the roof, trying to get close to inspiration photo. Do you have a specific shingle color picked out? And I didn't know what you planned for garage door off to far left, so just filled in with red temporarily (can change that). Also, front door color left me puzzled. A muted mustard didn't look too bad, but for now pretend that's stained wood. ;D If you offer specifics on roof, etc. I can further tweak it. Working on taxes, will check in as I get a chance later. Comments (6)I use paper pencil and crayon. That would take me hours! LOL! Is that really what you do? I thought an architect would at least draw the elevations in CAD. You have given me idea. Maybe I'll draw the elevations in AutoCAD and let my kids color them for me. It will be a great way to involve them in the build and keep them busy for half an hour! You could play around with LP's visualizer. Some of the other siding companies have similar features. Thanks. I'll try the link you provided. Your best resource for this (and other things) is your friendly local architect. You're right. We paid for someone local to design/draw the plans. Unfortunately, we went through the builder, so technically we aren't the architect's client. The builder doesn't seem overly happy to work with me on this! PS: There's absolutely nothing wrong with white b&b and white windows. It's a great opportunity for a stunning front door. I don't completely disagree. I've seen several photos of white on white that I LOVE, but I've seen just as many that are blah! I'm not sure why I love some and not others. If I were certain I'd get the kind I LOVE, I'd do it in a heartbeat! I guess I'll study those photos some more in an attempt to determine what I like/dislike....See MoreHelp pick out paint colors for exterior siding and trim
Comments (0)We plan to paint the exterior siding, trim, and garage door of our house soon and need help choosing a color scheme that works well with our brick and new black windows. I am open to painting or staining the brick to create a uniform look, but my husband is a hard no on touching the brick at all. As you can see, we're growing ivy on most of the front brick anyway. We initially thought white siding with a dark brown or charcoal for the trim and garage door would work well, but I'm worried the house will end up looking dated and busy. Should we go with a dark siding and even darker trim, or use the same color for siding, trim, & garage door? Too many choices. Help!...See MorePaul F.
