What SW blue pairs well w/ Iron Ore?

We are building a house and I'm having to decide on paint colors very soon.

Most of the interior walls/trim of our home will be Alabaster.

We are painting some built-ins in the office at the front of the home, as well as the paneled wall above the fireplace in the family room (back of the house) Iron Ore.

The kitchen sits between these two rooms. The upper cabinets in the kitchen will be Alabaster, but I'm looking for a medium blue to go on the 10' island.

From the kitchen, you *will* be able to see the paneled wall above the fireplace in the family room, which will be the Iron Ore, so that is why I'm hoping someone has a good color recommendation for me. Does anyone have something similar in their home to what I'm describing here that you could post a picture of? I'm very visual. TIA!!

Alabaster and Iron Ore are in SW's Nurturer collection, so to make it easy on yourself, choose something from that collection: Smoky Blue or Sea Serpent.

This was very helpful, @kandrewspa! thank you! I was looking at Poolhouse which is 7603, and Smoky Blue is 7604 -- do you think those are close enough?

The Euro Miele manuals give the water and electric consumption for each program cycle. The USA manual doesn't but using the Euro example it seems that the dishwasher uses between 4 and 5 gallons of water(about 1 for rinse hold) depending on load and cycle and could use 6 if the load is very dirty because it will add extra rinses for very dirty loads, or times when the detergent is not completely rinsed away. So the Miele is not too bad with eco-friendliness but perhaps not as good as Asko DW. I can tell from opening the door during the wash and rinse that there is so very little water inside that it is scary-- to think that it could do anything with it -- but still it washes and rinses completely. Most fills last 34 seconds, but not always because this depends on the load size and because it doesn't use a timed fill it will draw water until it has enough so time could vary with water pressure changes due to what is going on elsewhere in the supply lines. The Miele brochure mentions that the parts are labeled so that they can be manually sorted by different materials for recycling at the end of their life...No mention of who is doing this sorting or if it can be done here in the U.S.A. We are going to sort DW parts? I doubt it. Maybe Miele employees do but everyone else? Yeah. Unless their repair people have to turn the parts back into the company..that's a possibility. If you have friends that have Asko's and you are intrigued by them then perhaps you should get one. Maybe if you don't you will always wonder "what If I had that Asko DW?" I mean we ARE talking Dishwashers not husbands and wives so you could buy one and if you don't like it wait a while and buy something else and just say you made a mistake..things didn't work out. Stuff happens.

What paint colors go well with SW Compatible Cream?

I think the color is a soft caramel leaning towards the gold (or yellow) of caramel. So yes, it reads "yellow" to me, but in a very nice way. I used it in my master closet after a 32 second decision, because I was in a rush. My master is 12x18 (closet) and has one window. I wanted a soft color that would compliment the plaster in the bedroom and flow nicely with the wood (walnut) build ins that will be surrounding all four walls. CC really does work well for that, and looks gorgeous with chocolate. Outside of that room, the library is one level down and all the walls (except for the wood wall of hell...another post) are Valspar Cowslip 4 which is a yellow in the same tone (caramel color) but a bit deeper. The flow is great :) I'm not one for shocking changes of color in each room. I like the eye to visibly travel from room to room easily, especially through open doors. It sounds like the yellow isn't a good choice for your living room, since you're worried about too much yellow (is that possible?) heh heh Are you looking to go more neutral or do you have a complimentary color you'd like to shoot for? (Ie should we look to tan or green or blue or purple) :OP

B.M. chantilly lace or S.W. reflective white for trim?

To help those in future searches.....we chose Sherwin Williams High Reflective White as our interior trim color. We are very happy with the choice, pops against the wall paint colors we chose (Crisp Linen, Natural Linen and Neutral Ground). It comes across as a "neutral white" to me. But it did cost us a few hundred more dollars than our original paint quote. Apparently this color only comes in some of SW paint grades so we had to upgrade to a different grade to get this color.

I guess I'm trying to determine what color or combination of colors to use on the various types of trim and decking. (I think this includes window and door trim, fascia, soffits, vertical trim). A local designer thought that using white on the fascia, soffits, and window trim would be a LOT of white, maybe too much white. So we are trying to figure out if we should use something different around the windows (Escape Gray? Something else?) and/or something different on the fascia (Urbane Bronze? Escape Gray? Something else?) What does EF mean? Are you referring to Evergreen Fog? We thought we would just use that on the vertical pieces of trim on the corners.....

I think Poolhouse will look good with Iron Ore. Alabaster wouldn't be my first choice with Poolhouse. Extra White is recommended. You should sample all of these colors to see how you like them. Buy samples from Samplize.com or SW. Look at them next to your floors. Since you're building you may not be able to look at them in the new house, but if you can, that's best, because maybe the light will be coming from another direction than what you live with now. If you want a trim color that is not as white-white as Extra White, but not as yellow as Alabaster, look at Pure White. That is a very versatile white. Were you planning on having warmer colors somewhere in the house that led you to choosing Alabaster for the trim? But if you like Alabaster with Poolhouse, there's nothing wrong with it - it's your house, so please yourself. :-)

Looking at the color samples right now, Poolhouse takes on a lavender next to Iron Ore. Smoky Blue is pretty, but quite a bit darker than Poolhouse. I like Labradorite. Whirlpool is an option, too, but I like Moody Blue better for that depth of color. As you start to get lighter with blues, I suggest leaning green (as otherwise they tend to go purple). Delft is the lightest blue I found that looks good. If you're not in a huge hurry, I can send out 8x11 samples to you (3-5 business days).

IMO Alabaster would not be my choice with blue and Iron ore . A much purer white will be so much easier to work with if you ever decide to change wall color.

Alabaster has a lot of dated yellow tone in it. I'd keep looking. The two blues you listed are too yellow for Alabaster.
