Hey Mike, I just got a Logee's catalog..To be honest, I've never heard of Acokanthera. I thought your new plant was Sweet Olive.. Where have I been? Preparing for Christmas. I baked several pounds of cookies and bars for family/friends, 'approximately 200' different types. Decorated, bought and wrapped gifts, cleaned, visited, addresed Christmas cards, blah blah..In the meantime, I've pretty much neglected plants which I explained in another thread. Regretting it now. Lol, on the darts..I feel the same..lol.. Mike, truthfully..I didn't know about the darts..I researched your plant, then came across information about the dart and sap. I have two perrenial bushes in the garden called Winter Sweet and Winter Shrub..at first I wondered if this bush was the same plant as yours, but since Acokanthera is a native of Africa, it'd never surive here, not outdoors, anyways. Did you say the owner gave you his plant??? Did he supply care instructions? For instance, when and what to fertilize, light, soil, watering, etc? It's a very very pretty plant, and fragrant, too!! Wonder why it can't be propagated from cuttings.. I'd try as an experiment..lol..Wonder if it's fast or slow-growing?? Hope it's not too much work keeping it alive, especially in winter. OMG, thanks everyone for the info and gorgeous pics! I had forgotten that I already have Shores of Time -- bought it late last year after it had already bloomed, so I can't wait to see it. I think I'll prolly add Hush Little Baby and Elusive Happiness. I really love the ruffling on Possom Hollow, all the others are just stunning. Sigh -- so many daylilies, so little... well, you know! Thanks again everyone, and do keep showing us those photos.

The first year I had my Blue Girl, the bloom edges turned brown and I thought this rose is not going to do well here in Oklahoma. She struggled along. By mid-summer a vole chewed off her roots...completely! Not one to give up...I stuck the rose bush top in a two-gallon container of soil and set it in the filtered shade. Watered it and added compost once in awhile, but left it alone otherwise. Three years later, I have a robust, healthy rose bush that grew all new roots. Last summer she bloomed in the container. This time, however, her blooms were not burnt looking and the fragrance was yummy. This spring I planted her out into the garden in a new location. She is putting on a lot of new growth and looking very happy and healthy. I don't know if this is an indication of what a tough and vigorous little rose she is, but I'm very happy with her.

I used to manage the Subway store years and years ago. I was 19 and in college. I can tell you they don’t put any condiments on the sandwich on purpose – it’s company and franchise policy They do this because every sandwich is made to your specifications… You tell them exactly how you want to sandwich or sandwiches as they make it… So if you want mayonnaise you simply tell them… Same with oil and vinegar… Or mustard or whatever the condiments they have They also do it because if they put any sort of condiments on the bread without asking people tend to get very angry… There are many people who don’t like mayonnaise… There are many people who are watching their weight and don’t want extra fat in the diet and want mustard or other type of low-fat condiments… But what it really boils down to is you, the customer, are supposed to customize your subway sandwiches No I can understand if it’s a different type of sandwich shop… Or restaurant… Maybe even a fast food hamburger place… However, in my opinion, no condiments be put on any type of sandwich, or hamburger and the people making it should always ask what you want on it… No condiment should ever be put on by default… For example I only like mayonnaise on sandwiches… I think mayonnaise on hamburgers is the most disgusting thing ... hamburgers are already greasy… Adding mayonnaise, to me, is just like adding more grease
