Unexpected Gift of Thoughtfulness

moosemac
last year

Yesterday, an acquaintance who is actually my husband's cousin visited me at work. He brought me a card from the 3rd Armored Spearhead Division that read "Greetings from Germany". The card was signed by my father. My father's unit was in Germany in September of 1944 for a quick foray and then later from March of 1945 until the end of September 1945 so the card is from that period.

The card took a circuitous route to get to me. A friend of my husband's cousin was the son of a friend of my father's. His father who had passed on many years ago had kept the card since it was sent to him. The son found it recently and made the connection to me and arranged to surprise me by having it hand delivered.

I'm a huge WWII buff when it comes to my father's service so this is a very special item to me. Needless to say I cried.

I am so touched by the thoughtfulness. My father would have appreciated the gesture.
