Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 6/19
Comments (35)PricklyPC, I am having an issue that I now have to wear belts dramatically cinched on my "fat pants" but also regaining the ability to wear some of my other pants. I'm really having trouble because I need a few new clothes but can't decide whether to buy my thin size or fat size. I have always been on the border between two sizes . . . so it depends on the cut. But before my weight loss, I was finding myself firmly in the higher size. I don't know which way I am going to swing over the long run . . . I know for sure that I have to keep my weight down for health reasons, so hopefully that will motivate me to keep saying "no" to so much food . . . it's no fun, but then neither is being sick all the time and being in the hospital for all these invasive procedures....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/19
Comments (21)@RNmomof2 zone 5 congrats on your changes and the improvement in your meds. @gsciencechick - glad you got such good feedback at your visit and have found activities that you like and want to do regularly. It is probably true you don't need a CGM, but mine really does help keep me in check. And I've learned a lot. Like from a purely glucose level - one day we went to Panera and I got the big Greek salad with grilled chicken, and the potato chips for my side. Ate all the salad first, then the chips - no spike. Another day I ate a handful of potato chips on an empty stomach (less than the side at Panera) - spike. Then another day I ate chips and queso, thought to myself I can't get another spike, so I did my weight workout when I got home - muscles must have used it up - no spike. So - you see my issue with crunchy chips this week!! It's been not the best week. I've been eating more than usual - several social meals out, not as much walking as usual, no pickleball, and only one resistance workout. So, there's that :) I'm still trying to work in a long fast tomorrow to get me back on the food track. The weather looks great today and tomorrow, so at least I'll get in long walks outside. I've been rationalizing some not so healthy foods lately too, which is a habit I don't want to get in. So, I am trying to get past just the calories, or even the spike, and remember that food is medicine and it is important to my body to eat the right things, not just the right amounts. That a healthy body is more than just my weight. That the fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds and good quality protein are telling my cells good things. They are fueling me towards better health not just a number on the scale. Rinse and repeat:)...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 3/5
Comments (17)GS sounds great-- I had more beans this week too and I will keep that up. I like them and they are sooo filling! And thanks for mentioning facials, massages etc .. your post encouraged me to use self care kinda things for "treats".. the next bunch of weeks are going to be a strain and my birthday is in April. I will definitely be wanting treats and rewards that are not food! I think I may get some new sneakers too-- I have been wanting to try the On Cloud sneakers ever since I bought my niece a pair in Oct. Sue, great roadtrip options! Hope you have a great trip! Is this the weekend in PA? I had actually thought about going into Phila today but nixed that when the temps plummeted. Among other things, I wanted to go to the Weitzman museum downtown to choose another trovelore pin for my jean jacket. Instead, I will make a pot of soup today -- not sure what as yet. I have to consult the pantry and go from there. I am also going to do some shopping for tops and/or jewelry to up my video game. I have been doing 5-6 interviews a week and I have been looking blah. i want to perk up my look!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of Sept 3, 2023
Comments (16)I'm glad you are taking pics and recognizing the great progress Funky. It is so easy to get discouraged, but we need to reflect sometimes and be proud. Lots of changes and consistency have gotten you those results. They didn't just happen. I'm going to take the questions this week:) How are you doing with your healthy lifestyle changes this holiday weekend? Not bad - exercise is seeing me through at this point. What are your goals for the coming week?- no bread, no potato chips. I have been so lax with these foods, which are really a downhill spiral for me. I'm going to go cold turkey on these two. What are you working on improving? - Getting my food choices back in line. Are you pleased with your progress? - I have been at a weight loss plateau since November of last year really. But I am glad to have kept the weight off and stayed active. I have really made activity a big part of my life and I think that has been key to keeping my weight in line for now. What are you especially proud of? Being active every day and trying things physical things outside my comfort zone - yesterday we went kayaking. Not particularly physical, but still, some weight loss and confidence in being in better physical shape has led me to say yes instead of no to things I have really ended up enjoying. Like @gsciencechick - I am trying to take advantage of opportunities. I get stuck in a rut, so I am trying to say yes more often. I haven't regretted it yet. But it is not my normal MO....See Morelegomom23
