Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 6/19
Comments (35)PricklyPC, I am having an issue that I now have to wear belts dramatically cinched on my "fat pants" but also regaining the ability to wear some of my other pants. I'm really having trouble because I need a few new clothes but can't decide whether to buy my thin size or fat size. I have always been on the border between two sizes . . . so it depends on the cut. But before my weight loss, I was finding myself firmly in the higher size. I don't know which way I am going to swing over the long run . . . I know for sure that I have to keep my weight down for health reasons, so hopefully that will motivate me to keep saying "no" to so much food . . . it's no fun, but then neither is being sick all the time and being in the hospital for all these invasive procedures....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 11/19/2023
Comments (9)Funky yes being devoted to just getting in shape and losing weight is a losing venture. And it waxes and wanes for all of us right? At least it does for me! Shrug :-). Funky I admire your choices with regards to what to eat for Thanksgiving. I however am very confused by the words I don't eat mac and cheese.. but I understand that you don't think it's a traditional side. We've never had it as a side here but since I've been hearing about it more and more regularly from south of the border I have thought about making it. Shrug. I wish I didn't love cheese so much. It seems like the only thing I can't turn my back on as far as high fat foods goes. Gscience I am so glad you are feeling better. Glad you are able to wear your undergarment again! If I couldn't I might be one of those people who wears four t-shirts and doesn't go out at all. Not very comfortable without some kind of undergarment. Read br*a. I'm kind of forced into a pseudo nutrition based life. But if I didn't have to I tell you I would be eating entirely differently. First thing I would add is licorice :-) yes licorice. But I can't eat it so I make do with things like Bliss balls. They are not licorice they are second best chocolate. Well or coconut and chocolate I am continuing along with the same core exercises. A few times I've had to do it on Saturday instead of Friday but that has turned out just fine. We have been going camping and DH been riding his electric mountain bike deep into the mountains. I stay in the camper mostly and cook meals sew clothes that need a bit of tweaking which I want to wear for dancing. We have a lot of fun doing this. I obviously do my exercises there as well. We missed one week of dancing and boy did I miss it. We are practicing the two-step at home as the places we go are a mix of country and pop and rock for their dance bands. I will rock out at home and often it is music that I know I will hear at the clubs. :-). So I watch a lot of music videos and listen to a great variety. Last night at our dance they played Footloose. A lot of fun and everyone joined in. We are getting back on track with walking the dogs for longer every day and I'm glad that that is happening. DS and I have been struggling with the usual weather change migraines. So frustrating. Shorter more frequent walks are what we can handle when we're sick. I hope everyone is doing well and has a wonderful week!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/18/2024
Comments (24)After watching a bunch of videos thrown my way of people who have lost large amounts in shortish time periods, I realize even with the occasional loss (and that is ALL I have been seeing for the last year), I need to get more serious. I am not looking to do anything extreme for quick weight loss-- it's not healthy or sustainable for me-- but I do need to make some serious adjustments. I too easily let myself veer off path and choose something that is less than healthy because of time constraints or just because I WANT them. I did track most days this week ... even the day I had nothing but 2 packs of ramen and a snack pack of fig newtons. That hurt :( but it also made me realize that I am too easily swayed and sabotaged by my own self. I can't sit and whine that I am making no progress when I am not putting in the effort. I have been mostly talk and no walk for the last year. I sat down this morning and recommitted to a healthier lifestyle every single day. It isn't going to happen just because I want it to. I told my team earlier this week, we are not going to successfully hit our targets unless we make changes TODAY. With that in mind, I have identified 3 things that I can easily change starting TODAY: Return to and stick to intermittent fasting (this will start tomorrow because I already had a large orange before 10am). NO chips, pretzels, pizza or any high calorie/low value indulgences for any reason until my birthday in April. get outside and active at least 3x a week - could be a walk, jumping rope or yard work. Must be outside and active. I'd like to increase this # but for now, 3x will require effort to be successful. It's important to me that my changes are easily achievable with effort and without stress/anxiety. I am fully aware that I have said these words before lol ... but I am committing to them. I have a few trips coming up in April/May and that will be my motivation but in case that is not enough, I am budgeting/earmarking funds I will make available only if I stick to the above from now to mid April. If I do, I will purchase some items for my trips and have extra money to spend on them. It may seem silly lol ... but these are things that motivate me. I gotta go with what works!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/25/2024
Comments (22)Yes! Reducing stress is a part of a healthy lifestyle! Good for you, Springroz! I hope to get some of my stress under control ... just extended an offer to a person to fill one of my team roles. That should help. I also try to start the day before 5am and that helps soooo much. I get so much done in the quiet of the early morning. I am doing fairly well with eating this week and good but not great with my water consumption. I have NOT gotten outside and active 3x this week. Not even once. I woke up this morning and got dressed for an early walk-- and was bummed to discover it is raining pretty heavily. It is still dark out so maybe it will stop or slow soon. (edited to add that I checked the weather and it is going to continue all day.. boo. I will see if there is a lull later this morning ... if not, maybe I will jump rope on the covered patio) I did indulge last night-- I got my BIL 60 fancy pance burgers for his 60th birthday. I gave him a "burger comparison" kit from the same company for christmas last year and this year I did the same again for all of my siblings. I knew he (and his whole family) love them ... also knew his favorite was the dry aged beef so I ordered them as well as a new blend of brisket and short rib. Last night they had me over for cocktails and burgers (I've been sending them as gifts for 2 yr but never had one for myself!). We had the brisket and short rib burger with mushrooms on an onion roll. Very much a caloric splurge but omg! It was soooo good! I didnt eat prior to going over so I basically put all my calories into that burger (and salad) lol. It was so worth it. Everyone liked the short rib and brisket -- and really, it was *very* good but they all agreed that the dry aged burgers are significantly better. I will be going over next week for the dry aged version! I will have to be especially good all this week-- and maybe commit to 4 days active and outside! Aside: I have to say, the 60 burgers was a last minute gift idea ... but it was a perfect. He knew it was from me as soon as he saw the debragga box delivered lol ... but he was definitely surprised and delighted to find 60 burgers! GS .. feeling strong is a win! I have lost a lot of strength this last 10 yr and especially the last 5 yr. I am eager to get that feeling back. You and Feathers are inspiring! A workout at lunch? It sounds so refreshing! How was your week? Pretty sure I haven't lost weight but I feel good about making better choices (even with the indulgent burger last night!)...See MoreFunkyart
