Rose orders: which rose are you most looking forward to receiving
Comments (27)Funny you should say that you expect most people to say, "all of them"; that's exactly what I was thinking. Ok. If I have to narrow it down a bit, I think the roses I'm most excited about getting are Eugenie Guinoisseau (I've been wanting a moss and this is the one I'm trying), Lullaby (sounds beautiful), Madame Cornelissen (been looking forward to this one for a while), and Duchesse de Grammont(been wanting this one for who knows how long). How's that for a narrowed list? I didn't even include Adam, Madame Wagram or Anne Marie de Montravel all of which I'm very excited about. There are more but I'm really trying to keep with the spirit of the original post....See MoreWhat annuals are you most excited about ?
Comments (7)I got some of those 'Zahara' zinnias too! Haven't sown them yet, though. I'm trying malope trifida 'Vulcan' this year too (again) - really looking forward to those. And Tidy Tips - never grown them before, but they look so cheery! My petunias are up - teeny-tiny, but up! Shockwave purple and white - love 'em! After lollygagging all winter, NOW I'm getting the sowing bug! Hope to get a bunch of annuals done this weekend, even if it's going to c-o-l-d! Comments (19)Gosh, it is hard to pick. It really depends on the day. I've ALWAYS wanted a library and I'm tickled with the quirky, odd-shaped room with built-in bookshelves and cabinets and a generous window seat that we are building. Of course, it has French doors with glass panes. And I'm delighted with the master bathroom, where we each have our own entrance off the bedroom, each have our own vanity and toilet and walk-in closet, and our own entrance to the shared shower between our spaces. After two decades of sharing a vanity, I'm looking forward to the morning when I reach for my hairbrush and isn't wet from his shaving nearby. And he looks forward to not having to worry about the position of the toilet sheet at night. But I think what I am most excited about today is the functional, multipurpose mud room. It leads to the shortest path between our house and barn and is a large triangle that connects the house (off the kitchen/great room) to the garage. One wall has the washer, dryer, cat genie and laundry sink, generous counter top space and cabinets. The opposite wall has mudroom cubbies, hooks, and bench seat, plus a small broom closet and a large coat and boot closet. And the third wall has large windows looking onto our horse pastures with desk/printer/filing and paperwork/mail area. It's a really functional, utilitarian room that should work as a drop zone for a lot of the mess and transition between barn life and home life. Oh, and there is window in the fourth (very short wall) letting us see out to our pasture on the other side of the house. The mud room is about 400 sq ft and I think it's going to be really livable and practical....See MoreWhich new roses are you most looking forward to?
Comments (25)I am VERY excited about seeing all my roses bloom this year (hopefully) as I had several late additions last year that did not bloom for me because they were so young & it was so late in the year. However that did not stop me from purchasing more roses this year, because I just couldn't help myself. My newbies from last year I can't wait to see in bloom: Madame Joseph Schwartz Kronprinzessin Viktoria Reine de Violettes Mme. Issac Pereire Rosette Delizy Duchesse de Brabant Green Rose Heritage Lady Hillingdon New Additions for this year I can't wait to see: The Shepherdess Lyda Rose Golden Wings Dark Desire Dame de Coeur Happenstance Mme Antoine Mari Distant Drums Mme Alfred Carriere Charlotte Baby Love Blueberry Hill Blush Noisette Cramoisi Superieur Bolero Gruss an Aachen Pope John Paul ll Holy cow, when I write them all out like that it looks like SO many!!! They are coming from several different nurseries, so this is my first time seeing them written all together.....That's kinda scary, but still mostly EXCITING! I'm with you, Blueisland, I'm glad I'm not especially talented at math, because I never hope to know how much money I have spent in the last 2-3 years on roses.... I could have probably bought a cheap car with the total, especially if you include shipping on all these! Oh well, you can't take it with you! Let's just enjoy nature's beauty while we can!...See Morejulieotoole
