Early Fall, 1963: I had found a place where designers sold the clothing after it was "shown", and Pierre Cardin's models fit me perfectly. I took a second full-time job just to save the money for 2 suits in silk shangtun. Short, straight, above-the-knee skirt with a split hem in back, fitted vest with fabric-covered buttons, and boxy jacket, each lined in silk sateen. Worn with hose (held up with those d*m garters) and matching shoes in suede, 3" heels. A small handbag with a shoulder strap (I think shoulderbags were a newish style at that time). This was basic office attire, also with the requisite hat - remember Jackie's pillbox hats?- and gloves. Arriving at the office without hat and gloves was considered 'inappropriately attired' and you were warned once and fired the second time. And, thinking of inappropriate attire, I can remember being lectured on those grounds [about July 1954], by a neighbor for wearing pedalpushers and a sleeveless blouse while delivering newspapers. During the preceding winter and spring, I had been wearing my older bro's jeans, jacket, and ballcap while biking the 5-mile route. I think the neighbor was horrified to discover his paperboy was a girl. He never tipped, either.

I've cleaned maybe a thousand pieces of microfiber furniture and I've never seen one that faded color. Could it be possible that what you are seeing is fibers that are sloughing off? If you could examine under 10x or so magnification, this could tell you a lot. Ultra-suede microfiber is made by electrostatically deposting short fibers over a glued substrate. It's possible that not all of them reached the glue. But it's also possible this is just a poor-quality fabric and will not wear well. "Don't fall in love with anything that can't love you back."

I also noticed the same thing so I let it all dry a good two hours then I lightly wet sanded the entire surface 1000 then went to a car wash and gently soap and water cleaned dried , then with anew microfiber cloth dabbed a little bit of high purity mineral spirits lightly wiped entire surface let it dry at least 30 minutes then do a once over with a new clean tack cloth .One section at a time recoated with a third coat let it all dry 1 1/2 - 2 hours then without touching the surface in any way sprayed on a light coat of Rust-Oleum triple thick glaze and after a couple of hours inspected by rubbing fingers lightly over surface and voila ,! No silvery dusty residue and looks as if I have sealed the chrome silvery mirror like finish I will probably lightly sand with 1500 and apply a second and third coat and I should be good .I think the trick here is to make sure the surface is well sanded and then impeccably cleaned and being very careful not to bump or touch the surface also works slot better if you are inside a garage or enclosed space so wind isn't blowing the sprayed product away from the surface it is intended to protect make sure your cans are well shaken at all times .

I live in Georgia. There is no way she can go after them. It's not possible. They don't have any money and live from job to job and are feeding their families and if you took money from them or got a judgment they could end up in prison if not able to pay and unable to provide for their family. It would not be satisfying. In the end it really just can't be done by us who feel sorry for them and understand these economic times. They usually work for less than a big company. They are not bad people just unfortunate people. There have been times when I have had to adjust my thinking to it being more or less a "donation" not that I can afford it but I can certainly afford it more than they can and have had in the past a better life. When you know the people and have used them before and had no problems with them it's not easy to haul them into court. I am happy that OP is not going that route even though she has been terribly wronged and certainly justified. Sometimes we get our reward in other ways. It's part of life and I am so very sorry this happened and hope that it will come out with some of the remedies presented. If not, I so feel your pain having had similar things happen to me on several occasions. It's no fun being the brunt of carelessness but sometimes the protracted route of going after people just make our stress level even worse and will end up the same anyway with you resolving it yourself. Here's to hoping it will all work out and that the paint will come out or be able to be covered up. I am sick about this for you.
