how do I wash peppers off my hands?
Comments (131)I've tried many things over the years. Gloves(whether latex or nitrile offer "some" protection, but when you're processing superhots for hours, the capsaicin IS going to penetrate). I've tried butter, milk, oils, vinegar, soap...all with very limited cooling. But last year, I tried something different. I used to just deal with the limited "cooling," but the heat really wouldn't subside until overnight. I still don the nitrile gloves, but now I actually wash my hands with just plain white vinegar. BUT... I don't rinse or dry it off. Instant relief, but there's still "some" warmth. So, I'll do it again about 15 mins later. All pain/heat pretty much dissipates within an hour. My theory is that the capsaicin is not only on the surface of your skin, but has started to penetrate deeper layers. So, wash your hands with all the soap or oil you want...if you rinse it off, you haven't given it time to penetrate those other deeper layers. Kevin...See MoreWhy won't my cabinet paint dry?
Comments (11)Ah FRAK...I forgot to call ACE today....Felgerkarb!!! (think Old-school Battlestar G. here....;-)) I'll do it Wed.!! Brick- I checked the FPE "Specifiers" manual (anyone can request one of these...just call-'em!), and their ECO series paint. * ECO is best for the "smooth-finish" result. * Available in Brilliant (Gloss), and Satin. * There's a REAL RICH looking "Dutch Chocolate", and an "Espresso" color! They also state "...available in White; 7,000 FPE Colors; 3,000 Pantone colors; and unlimited custom-tinted colors." * They do stress a clean, prepped surface...big shock there!! For optimal smoothness and gloss, they suggest a sanded primer layer using their ECO primer, or, FPE Oil-primer/Undercoat. >>> Two REAL COOL things about this paint (for a paint-geek like me...): 1) It's a TWO-BASE system. Not the typical 3 or 4 tint-base system in North American paint. 2) The colorants themselves! * The pigments (and paint resins) are MUCH more finely-ground than normal. * Instead of real "liquidy" colorants, FPE's are more "paste-like"...VERY concentrated. * This adds to the incredible depth-of-color, leveling capabilities, durability, and gloss levels achieveable with this stuff. Soooo...all this means is...you get a fairly fast, smoother, harder-curing film! Faron Here is a link that might be useful: FPE's ECO info. page......See Morepaint comes off when it's wiped down
Comments (8)Hi Fishers, It's a "Laura-Ashley color" you say... * What did the painter have it matched into?? * Did you see a can they used? * Were you given a CHOICE of brand?? * What ACTUAL paint-brand/base/series was it mixed into? * Do you know the actual prep-history??? Meaning... * Were the walls washed? * What sheen of paint was on the walls b4 this color? * Was it primed after any of this prep?? Bottom-line...with a decent Satin paint, this shouldn't happen at all! NORMALLY...a paint is fully cured in a month for light washing. (I have a hunch they had it matched into a "contractor-grade" paint....) Faron...See MorePaper towels or blow dry hands?
Comments (28)Posted by jennmonkey: What I refuse to touch are those old fashioned ones where the same piece of material just keeps coming back around, having dried by the time it's back to the front. You don't really believe that do you? Or were you just kidding? Sometimes I can't tell when people are just joking around. The machines have a CLEAN roll inserted that is many feet long. As the towel is used it is wound on an empty spindle. When the clean one runs out it is replaced with another clean roll. The dirty roll is removed and and empty spindle is put in its place to which the end of the clean tool is attached. I prefer those cloth hand towels. They don't wind up all over the floor and sinks like paper ones do. People have been known to throw the paper hand towels in the toilet thus clogging them. The air blowers blow germs all over the room and you have to stand there forever waiting to get the hands dry while people wait behind you to use them....See Moredecorativewalls
