I prefer the Davina in khaki with your furniture pieces. For a family room I don't think ypur chair choices look very comfortable. Have you sat in them?

@jck910 thank you for the recommendation! The sofa is a different style but the same color. I did sit on it and it’s very comfortable. We will have 2 of them so that is where we will ‘sprawl’!
The lighter chair (x2) will be in the corner by the table - it’s a ‘chess/checkers’ table and the chairs are ok but if it’s just when 2 people are playing (which will most likely be never!), it should work. I have no idea about the other chair - purchased online. Probably should have sat on it but couldn’t find it on display!

I might select a rug that is more edgy.

Looks to me like either would work in theory, but I’d wait until your furniture is in before deciding.

Do you have any rugs in adjoining rooms? How is your lighting? Will you have curtains, other textiles, etc?

@BeverlyFLADeziner- thank you for posting the rugs and for your suggestion. My style is a bit more transitional with a modern twist than edgy but I see what you mean about picking something less traditional and more modern. Will keep looking.

My furniture will take 6 weeks to arrive and I was trying to place the order for the carpet at the same time. However, you bring JP a good point about waiting until I see everything all together. Ultimately, my impatience is always my downfall!!!!

Funny enough this room is a bit of a stand-alone. It’s elevated and somewhere between the first floor and the second floor - hard to explain but picture it off to the side and up 4 steps.

I have not picked out an area rug for the first floor. I also don’t have curtains, lamps, artwork or accessories. I figured I would pick those once I decided on a rug.
Lighting will be 2-3 lamps and we do have recessed lighting as well. The room is 16x20. Here is the layout

Get the furniture in and then pick the rug. If buying from a local rug shop you can bring rugs home to try out in the room. If buying online, buy a small version of the rug to confirm that the style and color works, before you order a full size rug. So much easier to ship back a 3x5 than an 8x10!

With your paint color, I’d just be careful of rug colors that are too cool.

Not a big contrast with rug. I am not sure it is right one. As for me it looks dull. May be in room with light walls it would be better.

After seeing all the furniture I would have assumed the rug choices would have been less traditional. They work but definitely think the rug above (from Bev) coordinates better.

@ Celery. Visualization, Rendering images thank you for all the helpful mockups!!! it does let me see that the furniture leans towards a more modern area rug than a traditional one. So appreciate the time you took to help me visualize!
