Old post but I have a similar issue. We bought a house with a bridge faucet (so just two holes in the marble top.) The faucet is now leaking and can't be fixed. To replace it, bridge faucets START at $350 and go up from there to the $1000 price range. We also have another sink on the other side of the bathroom, so if you replace one that will be roughly $400-$700, we probably should replace the other. The second option is to drill a third hole, for a standard wide spread set up. But for a third and budget option, I was looking at some single hole faucets, and putting a soap dispenser on the second hole. I am assuming you would put the water faucet on the left hole, and soap on the right (that is what comes to mind for a right handed person) but I am not sure. This is a home we will move from in about 3 years give or take. Trying to think budget, aesthetics, and function. And would a home buyer think "what the heck?" or say "awesome." You cannot see the other vanity area as the shower and toilet area are in the middle of the bathroom, so I am thinking I can have one faucet on one, and another set up on the other, as long as they are in the same bronze family and similar style (these have an old vintage look to them.) Thoughts?

Don't base your decision on the general dimensions. You need to look at actual tubs and, if possible, sit in them. I had a similar problem to yours in that I wanted no smaller than a 27-28" shower door, which limited the width of the adjoining tub options. After a ton of searching, I finally found a couple of 30" wide tubs that had equally large interior dimensions or felt more spacious inside than others. I ended up going with a Mirabelle Edenton (60"x30"x20") air bath, which was substantially cheaper than the wider Hydrosystems Lacey (and had a larger bottom interior dimension), and more attractive and sturdy feeling than the slightly cheaper Kohler Archer (which seems very tight inside but has good bottom interior dimensions. Anyhow, I'd take a closer look at 30" wide tubs and get the vanity you want. I just posted a video of the Edenton air bath in action if you want to check it out. A diamond hole saw bit will be your best friend for this. They are a little expensive but the best way to avoid cracking the tile. I would recommend have a second pair of hands available with a spray bottle of some sort of liquid to spray the tile and keep everything cool, also to help avoid breaking the tile (alluding to Geoffrey's post about making a pool or bath).
