I still love this one, weird as it is (the spray hose lies atop the gooseneck, and the neck itself has a sort of channel (for lack of a better word) on or in which the hose rests and blends in like a chameleon. When you want to use the hose you just pull it down from the nozzle clip (again, for lack of the proper word) and you're free to roam around the sink with it. When you're done, you just place it back over the neck and clip snap it back into place at the nozzle area (the nozzle is part of the hose so hose and faucet are one in the same). Sounds crazy but I've used the floor model of the bridge style deck-mounted 10" one and it was FUN to use and looked and felt very high-quality. It's solid stainless steel and made of replaceable parts. I.e. if you got tired of the hose version you could just replace the gooseneck with a standard gooseneck. The polished stainless steel looks like a cross between polished chrome and polished nickel because it's warmer than chrome (not so blue) but not as yellow as nickel. Not sure I'll get it though cause I want a wall-mounted one and I think the wall-mounted sizes are either too big or too small for my space. :( We'll see... See below for link to the 10" (19" high in total) version of the single lever style. They also have the shorter 8" version (14 3/4" high) and they also have the traditional deck-mounted bridge style in a couple of sizes as well as the wall ones and mono blocks (click on Steam Valve Originals once in there to see everything). Way back when...I was really leaning towards the chrome finish, you know me--wanted the "sparkle". Then I went to the showroom. I touched the chrome one--it left my fingerprints. At that moment I realized there was no way I wanted to be obsessed with wiping down the faucet constantly. I ended up with a Danze stainless faucet (not a Grohe-long story). It shows no fingerprints. I think with Grohe there is Real Steel and Super Steel--I doubt one shows fingerprints more than the other, it's just the overall color is slightly different. One is stainless over stainless, the other is stainless over brass. Can't remember which is which. Go down to a showroom, and actually touch them and see for yourself what you think.

I just discovered this thread while doing a Google search of "Kohler faucet foaming problems." We purchased a Kohler Forte faucet from Home Depot at the end of April. About one month later we started noticing foam in the water but it cleared after running for 1-2 seconds. We assumed it was air bubbles. However, the problem progressed and whenever we first turned on the water, there was the unmistakeable chemical odor and taste - much like a new garden hose smell. This alarmed my husband and I because we have a new baby and I was breastfeeding and mixing formula with water from our kitchen sink. We stopped using the faucet, which was a huge inconvenience. Once we deterined this was not an issue with our water, I called Kohler in early June to complain and yes, they were already well aware of the problem. I spoke to a service rep named Laura who promptly sent us a new faucet and assured me the new faucet would not have this problem. Keep in mind that with a new baby, my husband had much better things to do than install yet another kitchen faucet. Well, it's been just over a month since installing the new faucet and guess what? It's starting to foam again. I am so disgusted with Kohler and will NEVER buy another one of their faucets again. I called a service rep again this morning, and she told me that "Kohler is still working on the problem, so the faucets are still doing that." What? That's not what I was told in June when I was shipped a new and improved faucet. I told this rep, Angela, that I had no desire to receive a new faucet and that I wanted a refund so I could buy a different brand faucet that does not leach chemicals into our water. She was very pleasant, and requested I fax a copy of my original sales receipt to a manager who will follow up with me and supposedly, will issue me a refund. I will follow up with my results and post. To everyone else who recently purchased a Kohler faucet: keep an eye on your water. I think a recall is in order.

My Moen Brantford prep faucet is about 13" high, taller than you mentioned but it fits very well under my upper cabinets which are about 18" over the counter. It's a high arc with a pullout sprayer and a single handle. It's a traditional(ish) design, but you might look at Moen's other prep/bar faucets if you prefer a more modern style. (p.s. The prices listed on the Moen and Kohler sites are higher than they are in the real world -- just in case you hadn't already realized that and in case it helps.)
