Stating the obvious, a mudroom should be at garage/home entrance and laundry near the bedroom however having them seperate or combined largely depends on requirements, space availability, design and cost. Below is our setup and story if interested. Ours are at opposite ends of living areas based on our needs, layout and design. Our mudroom isolates front garage and the house though we decided against having a sink in the mudroom since there is easy access to three bathrooms in the front corridor alone with an additional one in the garage. Our home design went a little further and revolves around my DW's habits and needs or should I say most spouses, to have kitchen, laundry, bedroom and in our case DW's office and tea/coffee bar, all accessible from a central point, while looking elegant and be practical, yet providing enough seperation so that flow does not interfere with normal flow with others around. She's never had her own private office hence I made sure this design had an office space for her while still integrated into primary areas. Sitting at her decent sized office space/nook and console between pantry and laundry room, offset from the kitchen area, she could be drinking tea, surfing the net and/or on the phone, keep an eye on her stove and/or grandkids, with the washer and/or dryer running in the laundry room, all while enjoying magnificent sea and mountain views to the north, and should she open the tall laundry room glass door, she'd enjoy magnificent Mt Baker views to the east through a french door leading out to the side master bedroom deck. In fair weather there are two paths from laundry to the master, a shorter one using the deck or a longer one internally; DW is delighted to have everything on one level. No serious fears of flooding/fire/leaks due to planned extensive use of variety of sensors, alerts/notifications plus automatic/ip shut off valves/switches etc. throughout the home The home layout is designed for sound/noise isolation where necessary hence noise pollution is not an issue though lack of noise may be one since its so darn quiet.

Okay, without having dimensions, I took a stab at it: - It's a large space, but it's very spread-out, and bigger isn't automatically better ... I'd divide it up like this: - Carve out a U-shaped work space in the middle of the large kitchen. This keeps all your functional items close together /easy to use. Within this main kitchen space, you can have 2 huge drawer stacks + 1 smaller drawer stack next to the kitchen for cooking tools + 1 chef's drawer to the left of the sink + 2 big super susans. - I'd do uppers only on the side over the range, which would leave the whole space wide open ... and with light and breezes coming from both sides, this would be a very pleasant space. - To the right of this main work space, you have either a cabinet run OR pantries ... with the refrigerator in the middle. Loads and loads of one-step-away storage ... and it's space you can step to without walking around an island. So super convenient. - Because you have so much length to the kitchen and because you value table-time, I'd add a bay window to the front of the house /add a small kitchen table for more intimate dining ... then continue the kitchen cabinets (but more shallow) for another huge amount of storage near this small table. - I'd us this by-the-small-table cabinetry as away-space for the kitchen. That is, I'd use this one-step-away counterspace for the things that clutter up /clog up the kitchen counters: the coffee pot, a bowl of fruit or a cake-under-a-dome. This away-space will mean that your real work space is always clear /ready for use. It'll also be a nice sight line upon entering from what I now know is the front door. - Because I think dishware would be stored in the cabinets /uppers by the smaller table, I moved the dishwasher to the front side of the kitchen. - This leaves the back-bar as a large, open space, which will function well as a buffet table when you have guests /will be using the larger table. - This whole layout can function in multiple ways ... the center is the real work space, yet it relates to either the small eating area OR the larger eating area ... or both at once.

Thanks! I’m torn on moving the range because I’d like to keep it, the sink and the fireplace in line. I do need to speak with the builder about ventilation and the garage wall directly behind the range. I hear you on the butt to butt! I’m thinking that it won’t be too often that the oven door will be open at the same time someone is doing dishes. Still pondering. I’ll definitely add drawers. Not a Lowes or HD plan but just what the cabinet store put on paper for measurements. I will meet with them and our builder’s designer when Covid permits. Appreciate your input.

IMO remove the cabinet by the stroller and install anice big armoire for coats shoes etc. As for anything else the kids take it to their rooms ours did it for years in a samll house .You have a ton of space right there for all kinds of storage .
