Just curious: I thought the repair prone Elux ovens were the 2009 versions, and improvements have solved the problem? The reports of problems here on the forum have definitely fallen to nil since then. KitchenAid ovens have had such variable and negative reviews here, and additionally, such problems with non-responsive customer service, that I never even considered them. TGC, I found Consumer Reports to be sorely lacking in broad coverage of brands, certainly of a variety of models, and in judging the appliances in areas which I found important...like over time. A day of testing doesn't show it all. Also, their repair history type of reports are misleading, since they only cover a few types of problems. For instance, I did a survey for them in which it made our Maytag fridge look like a star, because it didn't allow for information about how many times we had to replace parts to the drawers, how much we spent in shipping costs for parts, or the evaporator motor we replaced ourselves when the original went out just after the warranty period. They don't take into account necessary parts and repairs that don't require a manufacturer's service tech. Anyway, you're doing things the right way...Consult CR, but also look to resources like this forum and AJ Madison reviews where you get reports from real life experience, and from people who use their appliances in all different ways.

I would mount the telly on an articulating arm underneath the upper cabinet closest to the dining table. Most likely you will need to attach it to a stud. Hopefully you could make the edge of the telly flush with the end of the cabinet/counter. Using an arm will allow you to pivot the telly toward the DR table, the island or the sink. And then you can fold it flat against the wall for a more streamline look when not in use. With this arrangement, you might have to move the radio/speakers. My in-laws are in their late 50s and early 60s. They’re in great health now, but we could easily be living here for another 20 years. The guest house (aka: cottage, casita, adu, granny flat, in-law unit) is at the rear of the yard. There’s a flat pathway from front to back. The yard is nearly all cement, which will be tackled in ~2 years from now, but we’ll be sure to keep an early level walkway. Prompted by this discussion, I asked my in-laws about wheel chair access to make sure we are properly considering the future, but they don’t want that kind of space. Cross our fingers it doesn’t come to that, but we are planning for a space that will work with a walker. If they are wheel chair bound, we’ll get help. Their priorities for the unit are: #1 an open layout between kitchen, dining, living - they want to keep that area as large as possible #2 access to the bathroom from the bedroom #3 I’m not sure what’s more important, but they want a decent amount of closet space and a small office space (think 3ft x 3ft corner hutch) I think we can do it :-)

If work is done poorly, the first step in remediation is to give the original installer a chance to make it right. Knowing why they did "bad work" can help with the conversation to decide if they get another shot at it. If a homeowner simply fires a worker and does not pay per the contract, then has someone else come in to redo the work, the homeowner may open themselves up to a court action or a lien on their property from the original worker, and may have to pay twice. Or at least have to suffer the pains of going through some sort of arbitration process. If the homeowner and installer instead come to a mutual agreement that they should part ways and put the separation agreement in writing? Much safer alternative for the homeowner.
