crackled subway tile to match taj mahal
Comments (8)It would help to post a picture of your Taj Mahal (which is one of my favorite quartzites). some are more gray, some beige, lighter/darker. What color are your cabinets? I love my Encore. I used Cameo, but Ice is lighter. silver medium, steel darker. I'll search if I still have pictures. All these are Encore; you just have to find the one you like and matches in the grand scheme of things....See MoreNeed help finding flooring to go with Taj Mahal counters in kitchen
Comments (14)Thank you to all who responded - this is my first time posting anything, so apologize for my deficiencies here ;). I just uploaded a few photos but the lighting is not great as it is early morning and no natural light is in the room. But my taj mahal is more brown than gray, more warm than cool. In the one photo I included a tile I am considering - it is the lightest one. I am trying to pick up the light parts of my taj but having trouble finding tile that is not too white, gray or yellow. I have considered brick and I like the sample in the photo I included but not sure if brick is too busy and if this brick is too gray. And lastly, the tiled area runs against my living and dining that has wood that I am not ready to replace, thus ruling out wood. Question, if I did a drastically different wood-look tile and ran in opposite direction, could I get away with this against the other wood? Like white-washed wide plank running opposite direction to the floor as pictured here. Your help is so appreciated. I have been looking for new flooring for over 2 years, which is maddening!...See MoreIs Taj Mahal counters too busy for Zellige tile backsplash
Comments (9)Many on this forum have a fear of mixing anything but plain subway with Taj Mahal ... and most of them have never designed a kitchen with TM! Depending on the slab of TM, it can actually look quite muted and "boring" once installed. Some people like mixing color and/or pattern, and others don't, buy it doesn't mean that both design styles can't work. These are some of my favorites. Not white cabinets, but the bold tile fits with the TM and the rest of the overall design of the house. I used this marble mosaic with my TM and BM Chantilly Lace cabinets. The brown marble ties into the wood floors, wood ceiling beams and brown veins in TM....See MoreTaj Mahal + walnut cabinets - backsplash??
Comments (27)Thanks for all your suggestions, it’s really helpful! I was also planning to run any tile as shown in the picture vertically, instead of horizontally, just because I like the idea of it drawing your eyes up. I did consider the 4x4 tiles for a while, they are not out of the question, however I was slightly worried that I would just be hopping on a so-called “fad”, because it reminds me of the tile from the 80’s sometimes, but I still really like them. I really like Beverly’s mock up with what I think is the Cloe 4x4 tiles, in white? However those are the same colors as the Cloe tiles in the photo and they look so much more brown toned! Maybe I should try the Creme color and bring some samples home of that in the vertical and 4x4’s....See Morekandrewspa
