I would add drapes across an area that spans about 6 inches beyond each side of bed. You would either need to get a longer cornice or eliminate it. I like the idea of wall lamps since the area on each side of bed is not very wide.

Simply hang drapes that ARE even on the wall. Nobody will know that the window behind them is not even (unless you open the drapes all the way).

If we hang curtains on the bed side...then on the adjacent side should the window treatment match? Or can the existing cornice stay just obviously without curtains on that wall? Not a huge fan of drapes. If we kept the designed cornice...I'm assuming solid colored curtains? I'm so inept at decorating!!

You might like drapes if you try them! They finish a room so well. Without seeing the other window, it is hard for me to say, but generally I would match the window treatments.

The window placement. Maybe will look better with solid curtains options. A dressser is right across from the bed.

Why can't you move the bed on the opposite wall facing the windows? Where the dresser is. Is the door there?

The other solution has been mentioned more than once. Curtains. Are you thinking short curtains? Because I agree, I hate short curtains. All curtains should be floor length, then they're beautiful.

Yes, the door is on the dresser wall (and a closet thats behind where the door opens). Very small room, old 60s ranch. Yes, short curtains are not my fav! But I probably wouldn't do floor length curtains on both walla being so close together. And the bed couldnt go on the larger window wall (or wall across) because then there's just a tiny space to walk to the other side of the bed and it just took up much room!

What about wood shuttters instead of drapes, mounted and centered on the wall and covering the side frames of the window. Same concept but with decorative shutters? Think farmhouse...it could work! I wouldn't put sconces on each side, that would only accentuate the problem...maybe you're right just ignore it? It has been done in situations like these. Lots of houses have funny quirks.

This room is bigger than yours, but shows how full length drapes would look on both windows. I think the drapery rod should have been placed closer to the ceiling. Also, I am not crazy about the small cornice because it makes your short window look shorter.

This is much a do about nothing. The unevenness only BLARES at you. The camera angle make the cornices look too long? If they could be hung from the ceiling and still cover the top of the window casing with drapery under them your window shape and size would really not matter.

It's a spare room!!! Hang the 2 pieces you have. No one is going to come into the room and say "oh, the right is wider than the left"

You said you wouldn’t do floor length curtains because the windows are so close together. On the side wall, keep the drapes totally open. In fact, you could save money by just buying panels for that window. You could also do that behind bed if you want. Pictures here show both options.

Is the cornice over bed long enough to center on wall and still cover the window. If so, remount it centered on wall and add side panels or full drapes. They won’t be as wide as bed, but would let you keep the cornices. They are attractive.

I like drapes behind the bed...just not sure about that longer wall..but its worth a try! Not sure the cornice is long enough to center on the wall...I'm not opposed to redoing those...but again as someone mentioned it is a spare room so how much work do I wanna create (altho hubby is always up for projects). Yay, we finally brought you around! The drapes behind the bed as shown by @littlebug zone 5 Missouri work as an accent wall because they go almost to the ceiling. Good idea! No drapes on the other window, they would only distract from the accent wall. When you say cornice do you mean the fabric valance? They are fine, leave them alone.

Definitely would work better with panel curtains. Play with them making symmetry. I would remove your valances.

I had this photo saved in a decor file for when my daughter and her new husband had the same bedroom window problem in their first home. I do not like how the rod extends out, but otherwise thought the back wall looked great. Although I do not have a photo of their bedroom, my daughter and SIL basically copied this look using warmer tones.

I’d do a shade on the bed window, and panels on the other.

Or shades on both …. not windows like yours here, but showing all shades, plus I love this room. :D

Don’t worry about it being asymmetrical.

You could lose the one night stand and move your bed over just a bit.
