Master Bedroom Window not centered on plans
Comments (12)My architect originally put my windows in the corner, the new style, and I didn't think I'd like it so I had my DH take out those and put just one in what I thought was the center of the wall. Then when I went to look at it I realized it wasn't centered. I too first thought I'd just cover the imperfection with drapes, but then thought, no I couldn't live with that. So my solution was take the window out all together and put in a single glass door that opens to the porch. I'm not sure I'm going to be happy with this decision, but it's too late now. I do get a lot of light into the bedroom from the master bath and I made sure to put in a lot of lights, recessed and otherwise. I thought I might put curtains on that wall behind the bed that would expand the entire wall and have the recessed lights shine on them and that would give a feeling of "windows." Oh well, at least I hope so. This is my first home build so I had no idea how differently things look in person than they do on those plans. I've learned now though!!...See MoreNow I need help with window treatment for master bedroom
Comments (8)One of the 5 windows in my office has its right drape panel a bit behind a secretary desk in here. It doesn't bother me, but you may feel otherwise. My roller shades block the sun and gives me total privacy if I choose to close them at night. My shades cover the full glass part of my windows, but not the outside trim. My windows are standard double hung, and yours appear to be sliding windows. If you do get shades, no matter what material type, and close them at night (just an assumption on my part) wouldn't you need to raise them in order to open the window if you choose to? Would that bug you at all? I may be prejudiced toward drapes, as I make them myself and love fabrics, so change them more often than others might. Here is a pic that I found online with a window similar to yours that may help you decide....See MoreBedroom with off center windows and alot of blank wall space
Comments (8)I like your bedside tables but they are too big for the current location. They feel too visually tight and the one at the door overlaps the door frame - against the visual rules, looks weird. I agree with DM. It looks to me that the wall to place the front of the bed is the one opposite the closet/bathroom door wall. I cannot tell if you have enough room at the end of the bed to do this. It need not be a full wall of solid fabric draperies. It could be translucent fabric. Check out The Shade Store or Smith & Noble Draperies. Or there is always IDEA for a really cheap solution. It's ok if you see the door through the draperies. That should do the trick to pull the room together....See MoreMaster Bedroom- Please Help choose bedding & window treatments!
Comments (21)Cobalt blue is a gorgeous color but the walls +the gray headboard + the tan matchstick shades + multiple shades of blue doesnt equal a cohesive sum. Since the wall paint is fresh and pretty and since you like the grey headboard, consider sticking with fewer colors repeated in more elements and then add just one shade of blue as your proverbial pop? The photos that deco added are so pretty partly because they stick closely to plan....See MoreDana
