I'm in the midst of a similar project for my DD. We are using 1940's vintage furniture. While some of the furniture was already painted a distressed aqua, we decided on a creamy white (BM Bavarian Cream). The creamy white has really brightened up her room, made it look more spacious, plus allowed us more versatility with paint and fabrics. However, DD wants to leave the nightstands unpainted so we'll probably do that as I figure I can always paint them later. Personally, I do not care for painting the hardware the same color--just looks like a lazy paint job to me). I am using Rust-oleum on all the hardware--a brushed nickel finish. This was a terrific thread to follow: thank you! We tried a bunch of the colors (several suggested on here), and my daughter ended up liking Lilac Mist (Ben Moore) the best. It is slightly "sweeter" than I would pick, but I want the room to feel like home to her. If the color is too bright on the wall once it goes up, I now have a terrific list of "back up" colors to try. Thank you, thank you! Sara

I saw some really cute matelasse coverlets in pink for a good price, plus a lot of other things too.

You can get a headboard the same color as the dresser, and match the night stands with it. And based on the photo below, you can use the grays tones instead of the green. dark gray sheets and lighter gray on the walls, with some decoration in wood style. And do the decorations on the blue that she wants, with pillow, a rug, curtains...
