Great Ideas for Girls' Bedroom Designs
Use paint color, bedding and accents that can grow with your daughter
These days, children are becoming more design savvy at a younger age. During the years from early to middle childhood, your daughter will begin to outgrow her toddler decor and she will be ready to define her own personal style. While you should encourage her to help with design decisions, be sure to provide careful guidance and make sure she understands that compromise may be required. Ultimately, the goal is to create a space that will work now and well into her teen years with few changes to the design.
Purple is a very popular color among young girls. Since favorite colors can change, it may be a good idea to paint just one accent wall instead of the entire room. Then, bedding and accessories can be easily switched out.
A silver-blue and white color palette creates an elegant and serene space that your daughter can grow with.
Some girls prefer a no-frills, casual feel for their room. For this look, keep window treatments simple, hardwood floors uncovered, and use a subtle (or white) wall color. Allow your daughter to select her bedding, which can then become inspiration for accent colors.
In rooms that are not large enough for a comfy chair, a tall upholstered headboard is a welcome feature. It provides a cozy spot for sitting and reading alone or with a parent.
Think beyond window seats for recessed window areas. By positioning her bed in this space, you can create a semi-private area for your daughter to play and sleep.
Painted furniture is a great way to add color and style to your daughter's room. Stick with just one or two pieces, so that you can easily re-paint them if her color choices ever change.
