Guest Picks: Ideas for a Sophisticated Girl's Bedroom
These Accessories Will Suit Your Daughter From Tweens Through Teens

If I could design girls' rooms all day, I would be one happy designer! Anything goes in a young girl's room, especially color and pattern. A mix of investment pieces with inexpensive items, graphic elements and practical storage solutions will result in a timeless room to last from the tween to adult years. — Vanessa from Decor Happy
This combination alarm clock/iPod charger with speakers is just perfect for your tune-loving girl.
What girl, young or old, doesn't love Kate Spade? The embroidered dragonflies and grosgrain ribbon trim on this Egyptian cotton duvet cover add a note of whimsy.
Fabric is always a great jumping off point for a color scheme. I would upholster a curvy headboard with this beautiful, floral fabric. The turquoise, citrine and gray-brown colors are fresh and pretty.
If you are a savvy DIY-er, you could easily create a custom headboard. If not, an upholsterer can make your vision a reality. I love the simple curve of this one.
Solid wood pieces are an investment that can be handed down from one generation to the next. These Canadian-made bedside tables have ample storage, and the wood tone warms up any space. The clean, simple Shaker design gives this piece longevity.
I'm a longtime fan of gourd lamps. This peacock beauty picks up on the colors in the headboard fabric and makes quite a statement.
The gently bowed drawer fronts on this dresser add femininity and grace.
I would hang this large, gorgeous gold tone mirror over the dresser.
When I saw these Second Life rugs at ELTE, I couldn't help but wonder whose home they had graced during their 40-plus year lifespan. Each traditional Turkish rug is stripped of its color and given a new life with vibrant dyes in a rainbow of hues.
I would place two of these velvet cushions in front of plain white pillow shams on the bed.
This pillow adds a graphic punch to the bed when placed in front of the two chartreuse velvet pillows.
This chandelier is a touch on the expensive side but I'm sure you could get the look for less. It's glam and edgy at the same time and will bring sparkle to a bedroom.
Every room can use a little zigzag. I would hang these drapes using hooks on the back tabs, which will create the look of a pleat rather than the rod pocket. They will look more luxe and less casual as a result.
If the bedroom has space for it, a desk or vanity provides additional storage and a place to apply makeup or do homework. This one is simple, practical and inexpensive to boot.
A comfortable upholstered chair seat will ensure your girl spends the time needed on her studies!
A place to store books and display accessories and treasures is a must in a young girl's room. I love the distressed wood and white lacquer finish on this piece.
A Moroccan pouf adds that well-worn, traveled feel to a space and provides seating when friends are over. These are sewn by hand by artisans in Marrakesh.
Every room needs art! These perfume bottle prints will up the girl factor in any room.
This jewellery holder reminds me of a tiered cake stand. It has plenty of space to store earrings, necklaces and the like.
These glass jars would be ideal to store small girly items like hair accessories.

In the second picture, I was missing the dragonfly embroidery promised. Lovely, but a white sheet for a teen girl isn’t always a great idea.
