need help with a chandelier

last year

We need a new chandelier in our dining room and after looking many months I fell in love with a black and gold one. Trouble is our current area rug is dark blue with some light blue in it. Can I put these together?

Put something else in the room that is black and gold..art hung about eye level will integrate black and gold into the room. Choose one with some blue and frame in black and gold.

I would do something light and airy to offset all the heavy wood and stone. And MCM in feeling too. I love any of the white light-as-air Nelson pendants. Nelson pendant lighting at Design Within Reach You could do singles, doubles, triples, all-the-same or mix-and-match. Here are some examples.

Here is your room layout. The brown line indicates an 8x10 rug. If you add the 16" etageres they will land right on the edge of the rug and I'm not really sure there is enough room for people to sit and move around. As it is there is only 30" from the edge of the end of the table to the window and entry into the room. Once you add any table leaves you will be outside the room area. A 81" table can certainly handle a 48" fixture since it is so very open in design..

I typically never comment regarding backsplash selections because unless you're in the room with the countertops and ambient light, most suggestions are not on the mark. OK here are some options. You'll think there is no connection with each other but they do provide 'texture' between the upper and lower cabinets. Not sure these colors are on the money, but you'll get the idea. Another option to zhush up your tile selection is to consider a tile in white and then install it with gold metallic grout which will link to your cabinet handles and hardware.

I've been looking for a dining room chandleier forever, and I have seen one or two I really liked with a black shade and gold trim. I am concerned it will not give enough light. Is the one you aer looking at just black and gold finish or is the shade black? Asking because it's another consideration.

Otherwise hyes I agree Judiann'a's idea is great.

Mine came with white shades but I like it better without them. I have been told by lighting people that black shades will dim the light.
