Comments (16)Thank you all so very much for the great suggestions and kind words! Let me get to work here: plants... Yes, that is a loft. The sofa has an Asian look to it, as does the table beside it. Your ideas are very unique. Thank you! Tracey, the coffered ceiling (actually is in the Great Room) paint color is 2-3 steps up from the wall color - same color family, just deeper. It is Porter Paints, and I can't find the name, but I think it is something with the word Bronze in it. If you go to a Porter Paints store, and get the card with Universal Khaki on it, it will be on that same card, only darker. I'm so sorry about your kitty. That is always hard. The babies will sure be a lot of fun! The blue in the bedroom is my favorite. It is Hatter Gray (Porter). At Garner Appliance, ask for Robert. Very helpful and personable, but you may need to stay on top with follow-up. forboystoo, the Parlor color is Restrained Gold (Porter). pricklypear, yes, the kitchen floor is slate, and that is one of the very BEST choices that I made. We both LOVE it. I do not seem to be able to put my hands on the particulars, but there are lots of different types to choose from in most tile stores. teacats, I do like the idea of a tapestry somewhere. I actually have another very large wall in the hallway/gallery that I think would be perfect, and I like the one you suggested. I had found another 2-3 on art.com before that I liked. I think your idea for a large sunburst mirror over that buffet is an excellent one. We had decided to put a mirror over it for sure anyway, but just had not yet seen the "right" one. I also like your idea of the pottery for the EC. I have several now that I could put up there to get an idea of what kind of size would work well. Thanks for the ideas and nice compliments. :) Shannon, go for it with the tapestry! Thoughts and prayers for your complete recovery. Thank you all very much for your help. This is the first house we've ever built (lived in our "starter home" for 20 years), and the whole thing has been a whirlwind dream for DH and me. Comments (21)I would hang the two prints as you showed in the second to last mockup (with the four little pieces around them, only don't use those). Then I would get two wall-mounted, plug-in style lamps to hang on either side of the prints, to give you light over the couch and end tables without the clutter of lamps there. Maybe something like this? I like the modern aesthetic, and how the curve of the back plate picks up on the curves in the artwork. ROBERT ADLER LAMP I would stick with the first rug. The flowing effect of the rug is a nice balance for the very angular feel of the couch and loveseat.. Consider this pillow from Pier 1. Notice how the flower pattern echoes the flowers in the prints and also the subtle background flowers that you almost don't see in the print. Plus it pulls down the warmer tones from the print onto the cooler color of the couch/loveseat. floral pillow...See MoreNeed help selecting artwork that will compliment purple artwork
Comments (31)Thanks all. I did go with the Allure Blossom. It's coming today. I don't think I could go with a mirror on that wall because there is a hutch to the right which has mirrors in it. I really like the purple and yellow bowl from Pier One; will see if they still have it or something similar. Might be sending more pictures of my next dilemma in the living room. Another picture where I can't seem to find another piece of art that compliments....See MoreWhat should I put under these wall art?
Comments (23)That placement is SO much better! Slide the whole sectional down the wall about 6 more inches away from the doorway, all the way to the window frame. The tv is fine on an angle. The room looks great. Now you have room at the end of the room if you want to add a desk and chair, a small round table with two chairs, or an armchair with a reading lamp, or just keep one tree in the corner. You only appear to have one ceiling light in the whole room. Consider adding a floor lamp to the end of the sectional by the window, where you currently have your tree. It will give you the height that is needed, as well as the light. As an alternative, you could use a metal and glass console table along the short side of the sectional, with a table lamp....See MoreJ Blake
