I wouldn’t put anything under them — it’s a walkway of sorts, so I’d leave it open. It looks fine. I’d still lower the art a bit, though, since the couch isn’t on the wall with them. I think they’d look better lowered, anyway, plus will give you the illusion of the space being “filled”. It would also look more balanced with the windows (the art not being hung at the window height).

But they still have to be higher than the back of the couch right?

In my opinion, no. Since the couch isn’t up against the wall, you can treat it like any other wall.

This is how they looked before. They were hung much lower and I thought it looked weird, since you wouldn’t be able to see the the bottom of the pictures if you were sitting on the couch

I’m no pro but I tend to agree with you that I like them higher than the sofa. Looks like a better fit on the wall

Check if you have enough room to put there console or two ones. If not...then nothing.

I agree with leaving the space open, as even a narrow console looks forced to my eyes. I would lower the art slightly. Don't focus on just how the pieces look when viewed from the couch, but consider their placement as they relate to the room as a whole. Right now, they're just a little bit too high.

To me it appears that the whole sectional should be back just a few inches from the wall. It doesn't make sense to have a walkway to nowhere. It would also give you better tv viewing from the whole sectional, not just the short end. That also opens up the space at the back of the room to place a table, or a grouping of two chairs. The art should be a few inches higher than the back of the sofa.

I‘m not sure why room doesn’t allow for couch to be up against wall. Based on angle in pictures, the seating and rug in such a large room feel really squeezed to the right. If moved against wall the Advantages are that the art won‘t feel lost, and there will be a more spacious walk through.

Just a thought about adding a console or side board at window, which would help with balancing both ends of room.

I agree that the sectional is just in the wrong location. What is that path for behind the sectional?

The TV is on the small wall next to the door (you can see it in the pictures). I didn’t want to put it on top of the fireplace because the room is not large enough and it would be uncomfortable to watch it. I felt like if the couch was further back (against the wall, it wouldn’t make sense either, because of the TV. However, the tv is mounted on the wall and can rotate. I guess I’ll just give it a try and push the couch back. I’ll send pictures!

Seems top of art is same height as windows, which I like. Tiny thing but could art on the right but move to the right 2-3 inches.. if that's more evenly spaced...

I am in a dilema. I moved the couch back. Wall art now looks perfectly placed. Room looks, feels and truly is much bigger. HOWEVER, the TV is the issue now. Even though it can rotate towards the couch it feels odd. I think now, TV would have to be on top of the fireplace but then I would have to cover the mount on the wall. Ughhh. Pls help. This is such a tricky room

That placement is SO much better! Slide the whole sectional down the wall about 6 more inches away from the doorway, all the way to the window frame. The tv is fine on an angle. The room looks great. Now you have room at the end of the room if you want to add a desk and chair, a small round table with two chairs, or an armchair with a reading lamp, or just keep one tree in the corner. You only appear to have one ceiling light in the whole room. Consider adding a floor lamp to the end of the sectional by the window, where you currently have your tree. It will give you the height that is needed, as well as the light. As an alternative, you could use a metal and glass console table along the short side of the sectional, with a table lamp.

You could mount the tv on an arm that reaches out of the alcove above the tv since your tv is so large, but either way, the furniture is placed well.

I do have lots of space in the back of the room.

The improved layout to me far outweighs the tv on an angle. You’ll probably not notice after a while and it’s really not an eyesore.

If you hate, repairing the wall won‘t be a big job, but main consideration is if you will be comfortable viewing tv with its height when over fireplace. It will also take over that wall; while tv on the console feels less invasive.

Yes - I agree totally with @calidesign! Move sectional away from doorway & closer to end wall with window. Looks like ample space back there for doggie’s crate & a table, lamp etc. Seems like you can move the area rug more into room too if it feels too close to entry. If possible, try for all sectional front legs either on or off the area rug. With more room at entry, maybe one of the tall plants would fit into the entry corner to add something else to the wall with the art on it.
