I don't think it looks odd at all. Consider your cabinets a piece of furniture. Consider your furniture pieces with pulls--do the pulls on your dresser/china cabinet, etc match your door handles? Odds are, the answer is no. You have the same flexibility when it comes to built-ins and cabinetry. With that being said, I don't think it would look right to do say polished nickel on the base cabs and ORB on the uppers in the same room--those need to match one another. Since you asked about color scheme, we have Venetian Bronze/ORB levers on all 2 panel masonite doors. Here's the rundown on the cabinet color and pull color... -kitchen has white cabs with pewter glaze & a dark stained island & hood with the antiqued pewter pulls. -master bath has espresso cabs with antiqued pewter pulls -mudroom & family room built-ins are painted SW 'Creamy' (slightly off white) with antiqued pewter pulls. -laundry has white cabs with polished nickel pulls -kids' baths have espresso cabs with polished nickel pulls -powder room has espresso cabs with Venetian bronze/ ORB pulls Hope this helps!

A lot depends on the detail of the styles and rails edge at the panel and the panel itself. If it is simple and square edge and a flat panel it would have a more "modern" look. If it had a raised panel and more ornate edge it would generally be more traditional. Mixing the doors could look odd, or be a topic for discussion with guests at the dinner table.

Thanks for the fast responses. TruStile is not in the budget but Steve's Doors is available through Reeb locally and they have good construction info available. I will eliminate the 1 3/4 hollow core option, I suppose it would make more sense to do 1 3/8 solid core if it becomes a crunch budget issue. Any thoughts on hollow core doors for closets?
