30k+ septic install

Brad K
last year

We’re working through some land improvement estimates for a new home construction on a lot that is cleared in a pre existing neighborhood. Some costs seem pretty

33k for the septic and 20k for storm water seemed pretty extreme. The home is in south east Pennsylvania. How can we challenge/reduce these costs if the builder is entirely overpricing us?

Total land improvement is 90k with other items like well, permits etc.

Some info on the land if that paints a better picture

  • 1acre
  • flat and cleared
  • gentle slope
  • 2 story 3900 sqft (not a huge rancher footprint but generous)
  • land is a subdivision of a neighborhood from the 90s but well separated lots with houses built gradually over the years.

Any advice would be helpful on land improvement, thank you!
