Do you mean a upper cabinet or something at countertop height? I'm having trouble visualizing what you have in mind. We considered a built-in coffee machine, but besides the expense, didn't want a dedicated space for something unique that may not be available in a few years, and cleaning it did not seem convenient. However, we did reserve an area for a "beverage station" around the corner from our open kitchen that faces our family room. It has upper & lower cabinets, bar sink, & an undercounter icemaker, and is next to a glass-front refrigerator (in the kitchen) where we keep beverages & snacks. We keep cups, coffee supplies, & unbreakable "glasses" in the uppers since this area is handy to our patio. Lower cabs have a trash pullout under the sink, grill supplies, cereals & bowls. For a "coffeemaker", we put a Keurig machine on the countertop. It brews a cup at a time using K-cups, and you can specify how big a cup you want. There is an incredible number of different coffees, teas, and even hot chocolate available in K-cups. You can also get instant hot water by simply not putting in a K-cup. Keurig machines come in different sizes & having varying automated features, but the price was far lower than a built-in. We keep an assortment of K-cups in a carousel next to the machine, & we can offer guests regular or decaf without making a whole pot of coffee, and they love being able to choose. Personally, I would go the French Press, drip cone and instant hot route, which would be useful for lots of other things too, or a pod maker. I've had coffee from a Keurig and would have bought one for us if we didn't have an espresso maker already. I used to use a drip cone for coffee at work or single cup at home and still use a large one for a thermal pot when entertaining. I likethe French press coffee, but not the silt, so I'd have to learn not to drain a cup. The stovetop route is good too. You have lots of good options. I did look up the average life expectancy for a coffee maker and one source put it at 2 years. Before we got the espresso maker, it seemed we were replacing every year -- less than every two. We bought our first espresso maker 10 or more years ago and still have it. I know we never got that out of any regular countertop model, but I didn't want to be too harsh with the one year evaluation. ;-)

writers, the innards of my Presto percolator are stainless . The only plastic parts are the base, the handle, and the little handle on the lid on top -- basically anything that touches the countertop or is grasped by human hands. I am scarred from years of watching my late father make coffee oh so very slowly with his Chemex. No-one else in the family was allowed to use it, wash it, or otherwise touch it. And he made only a very small amount -- one cup for himself, one cup for my mother, and when I was visiting half a mug for me. My mother said it made her feel like Oliver -- "please, sir, may I have some more?" She ended up resorting to Sanka lol.

I It's possible the rinse cycle wasn't fully effective or completed. Do it again and if not resolved? Call for a trouble shoot/ as in repairman.
