Do you mean a upper cabinet or something at countertop height? I'm having trouble visualizing what you have in mind.

We considered a built-in coffee machine, but besides the expense, didn't want a dedicated space for something unique that may not be available in a few years, and cleaning it did not seem convenient. However, we did reserve an area for a "beverage station" around the corner from our open kitchen that faces our family room. It has upper & lower cabinets, bar sink, & an undercounter icemaker, and is next to a glass-front refrigerator (in the kitchen) where we keep beverages & snacks. We keep cups, coffee supplies, & unbreakable "glasses" in the uppers since this area is handy to our patio. Lower cabs have a trash pullout under the sink, grill supplies, cereals & bowls.

For a "coffeemaker", we put a Keurig machine on the countertop. It brews a cup at a time using K-cups, and you can specify how big a cup you want. There is an incredible number of different coffees, teas, and even hot chocolate available in K-cups.
You can also get instant hot water by simply not putting in a K-cup. Keurig machines come in different sizes & having varying automated features, but the price was far lower than a built-in. We keep an assortment of K-cups in a carousel next to the machine, & we can offer guests regular or decaf without making a whole pot of coffee, and they love being able to choose. We've all but retired our regular coffeemaker for the Keurig.

gizmonike, thanks for your reply. I have a full floor-to-ceiling space for a 24" set of cabinets on my oven, fridge/freezer wall. I was hoping to fit it in that set of cabinets somehow.
I looked at the Keurig coffee machine you linked. I didn't know about anything like this and may have to give that some consideration. It sounds like a really good idea that everyone could choose their own beverage.
Do you have any pictures of the way yours is set up?
I have also thought about getting the instant hot water at my sink for hot drinks, etc. other than coffee.

arbordomun, first of all, I love your kitchen. This sounds like possibly what I am looking for. As far as width, it looks like it would easily fit into a 24" wide space. Would you be able to tell me how tall the space would have to be with the Brewmatic and the carafe in place? I really like the fact that it is hooked directly to a water supply. I looked it up on Amazon. Am I correct that you can brew a carafe of coffee or you can only do one cup somehow? Would you mind explaining how it works a little better for me? Thanks so much for your help.

I'm planning on getting Instant HW and making Bodum flask style coffee with it. I have three Bodums, and a three washable filters for tea and herbal infusions.

Instant hot water tank temperature can be adjusted with a flat screwdriver.
They say tea is best when the water is not as hot as boiling water.

I always warm up porcelain cups first. Sometimes I leave the chunky ones on the electric stove top at low heat: this makes them hot.

gma_j: Thank you for your kind comments. The unit is about 12" wide. I believe the manufacturer has detailed drawings for power and water connection. We have a receptacle and the water feed behind the unit with the cord and water line coiled up and secured. 18" between counter and underside of cabinet is the magic number for the tall pot, but a shorter pot is available. We ended up with 17-3/8" clear and the tall pot just fits under the basket. (BICA comes with a plastic basket but we ordered the stainless one that is offered in the papers shipped with the unit.) Ours is the manual unit and one simply turns the knob to the number of cups desired. After a few moments of heating it times down and shuts off with the desired volume in the pot. One can adjust a stop behind the dial to assure that the dial will not turn farther than your primary pot volume. The volumes are not exact, so one must use the cup measures more as guideline. Finally, the water temperature is set at 190F to 195F which is best for coffee and tea. I also have a small Bodum pot that I use daily that I place on a storage container of perfect height and set the dial to "a little more than 3".
