What direction does that large window face? My living room has a large south facing window. I tried several colors and the southern light really brings out the yellow. The conclusion I came to is that you need some gray to dampen the light. I chose Classic Gray. I wouldn't put it in a room with a northern exposure, however. Soft Chamois looks yellow in southern light, but warms up northern light. Eastern and western light varies more throughout the day. If you think you have a contender, be sure to put a sample swatch on each wall of the room, and down to the floor so you can see it against the floor. Your fireplace surround looks pretty warm - not the trim, the marble or whatever it is. That might clash with some of the colors you're looking at.

My husband and I painted our entire home in Behr off white Ultra Scuff Defense Paint and Primer. Matte for ceilings and walls; satin for moldings and doors. It looks great all times of the day too. Friends and family have asked me what “white color” I used, as it looks great! It is so easy to apply too. I have used BM and SW paint in the past, and I prefer the Behr!

Please tell us what lightbulbs you are using also, makes a huge difference.

I think white will wash out in that room. I would do a color. A soft beige or greige

I also used BM Chantilly Lace for all trim, doors, cabinets and I'm trying to find a very light color that does not turn yellow! Most of the interior was painted BM Winds Breath and it came out darker than I wanted and too yellow. I also have some taupe leaning finishes in the house and they do not look good with the yellow tones. My parents have the Winds Breath in their house and it didn't look yellow there!

I am looking at SW Snowbound and BM Glacier White OC-37.

SW Snowbound has mixed reviews. Reviewers don't seem to love it, but people that have used it, love it and say it does not have the pink/red undertones that the reviewers see in sample boards.

Not that much info on BM Glacier White compared to other whites.

What a beautiful room in what I presume is not an inexpensive house. Look at your painting estimate and ask yourself if you can spend the extra dough on hiring a good color consultant. I have used them in my last two homes and they were so worth the cost. You don't want a good color, you want perfection in that room. Get someone in your space who can suggest colors and look at them with you at different times of day, with your lighting.

Thank you everyone for the help! To answer some of the questions…. The large windows face east. I’m coming from a house that was facing south, so the lighting is completely different at the new house which is throwing me off. The new house was so dark when we bought it, I feel like every bulb was a warm 40w bulb, so far I have replaced the great room & entry flyer with LED 4000k natural light bulbs & took off the ember colored shades on the chandeliers. In the kitchen & hearth room next to the great room they just finished painting it Revere Pewter at 50%. I also just had the master bedroom painted yesterday in BM Classic Gray, it does look a little beige to me. I wish I could hire a color consultant, but there is just no time, I have to let the painter know the paint color choice today.

Sorry you are under such tight timeline. East facing rooms are tricky. They will change color so much throughout the day. I am currently selecting colors for an east facing room and everything I’ve read says lean a bit brighter and more saturated as from noon and beyond the space will have a lot of shadows.

Have you looked at your narrowed down color choices at different times of day? Does the pewter revere room connect to this room visually- can you see the one from the other? Could you do pewter revere at an even lesser pigment than 50%?

Also, you have a lot of great light reflecting off the floors in there. Do you intend to use a rug in that space? If so, I think there will be even less light in that room and you’ll need to account for that in a lighter wall color.

You are going to pay a lot of money to have that room painted, so you really should be sampling. I think Revere Pewter at 100% or 50% is a good idea, depending on your preference for lightness/darkness since you've used it elsewhere. BM recommends Balboa Mist for east facing rooms. Classic Gray is the lighter version of Balboa Mist. It's hard for anyone else to tell you what is going to work for you. If you have furniture you're going to use in that room you should be looking at samples next to your furniture too.
