Recipe Calls for Square Cake Pan - Can I Use Round?
Comments (3)The areas are very, very close. The 9-inch round pan has an area of 63.6 square inches, and the 8-inch square pan's area is 64 square inches. Can't get a better match. The time should be about the same; the round pan could take a little longer, but start testing at the same time you would for the 8-ich square. I usually use round pans instead of square ones, because the corners so easily get overdone on square cakes. And I just like round ones better....See MoreSide Table: Round or Square?
Comments (20)OK, after reading beverly's post, I removed the rug. And after removing that large, dark rectangular rug, it was actually a tie between the round and the square side table. And I placed a roundish lamp on the square table, and it really softened things up. I am going to go to the paint store and see what the folks there have to say about gel staining a factory finished round end table. But I have to tell you, 'm leaning towards the square because in real life it looks more classic and like a higher end table than the round...wow, this project is never-ending!! Thanks so much for your help, much appreciated and will post an update....See MoreWould you put an area rug or coffee table in this room?
Comments (7)Honestly, I think part of the issue is the âÂÂline-em-upâ way the seating is arranged. It leaves a huge blank space in the middle of the room. Would you consider putting the loveseat in front of the window, and the couch at a right angle to it? I realize that they canâÂÂt be abutting one another, because of the reclining. But I think you can move the couch down toward the loveseat a bit. That is also why you donâÂÂt want a coffee table. I know from personal experience that it is always in the way with a couch with recliners. I would move the black cabinet to the wall space to the right of the curtains where the chair is now, if it will fit. Then rehang the two pictures centered between the drapery and the corner of the wall, not between the drapery and the light switch. A lamp on there would be nice. I would find a larger round table to sit in the corner between the two reclining seating pieces. Another lamp on there. The small chair could go to the left of the tv, with a small table beside it, near the stairs, another lamp there. If the chair goes near the tv, then I would use the floor lamp in the corner nearest the dining room, to the right of the couch, and another small table there. I think once you move things around and have the furniture out into the space a bit more, you will find you donâÂÂt need anything there, and will leave the open space for traffic and kids....See MoreWhat coffee table and chairs would you put in this open family room?
Comments (7)Since you have a lot of wood, I like the more open coffee table that you have mocked up. Since you have boys, I probably wouldn't spend money on a "nice" one until they're older and you know they're not going to ruin it. Target and Wayfair have some similar to your picture. Overstock does too. I like the square shape to offset the swivel chairs. I also like leather/faux leather chairs for your kitchen table. (unless you're afraid the boys will rip them). Here's one I just found on Overstock that only has the faux leather seat: https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Bension-Contemporary-Espresso-Dining-Chairs-Set-of-2-by-FOA/11138466/product.html?refccid=UWAXBBLHSYQZXRSAQBKBOO4V4I&searchidx=15&kwds=kitchen%20chairs&rfmt=...See Morebirdstalker
