What kind of chairs to put in family room?
Comments (1)Hi yote1341, Try asking again at the link below, which is a very fast moving forum. Chances are though that they will want to see more of the room, or ask for the dimensions. My first quesstion would be if the sofa could maybe be set facing the TV center and then have the chairs on either wall. The coffee table looks like it is pretty close to the sofa too. The 'suggested distance' is 18" but it's fine to go a little closer. Sue Here is a link that might be useful: Home Decorating...See MoreWhat style of chairs would you put with this table?
Comments (19)A HUGE thank you to everyone who said to refinish the top! After many hours, a few swear words, and a cocktail or two, the table is finished! Here is a closeup of what the finish looked like before: It was crazed, dirty, and in a few places had some sort of goo actually melted into it. I was hoping that I could just clean it, brush on some lacquer thinner, and smooth it out. Not so. I had to completely strip the top, which removed all of the color, so I stained and finished it. It's not perfect, but it's so much better than it was! I think the wood actually looks better with the stain color IN it, rather than ON it. And with all of the leaves in: I've started working on the chairs, and I don't want to go into all of the ugly details, but I may end up with painted chairs, after all. We'll see how it all works out this weekend....See MoreCoffee Table/Trunk/Ottoman What Would You Suggest?
Comments (12)Trunks as coffee tables are called toe-smashers in my house. I've gone through three. :-) There's gotta be at least a little bit of room underneath for the toes to go. While storage is a nice idea I also found it a PITA since if I wanted to get something from the trunk I had to clear everything off the surface to open it. I would rather have drawers or even a lower shelf I could put flat baskets on (maybe those tailored leather baskets/deep trays?). I rather like something along the lines of the Map Table from Pottery Barn in a satin black painted finish, if you want to bring some of the black from the bar area over here - it's severe enough to play well with Mission furniture without being matchy-matchy at all: I don't think the ottoman-with-tray-for-"stuff" routine is a good idea for the sports-and-beer crowd. It's just asking for something to get tipped over. As for the glass rings, we have not had problems with tables and nightstands with good quality finishes - although I have my DH trained pretty well, there are a couple of my goonier friends who will set a sweating glass down on a table right next to the coaster. We put our feet up on the coffee table too (barbarians! LOL)... this is why I bought an old table with the top wrapped in old copper sheeting, because the more it gets bashed up the better it looks! ;-) However, if this is expected to be a major, major problem, a tile-topped table is right in line with the Mission flavor of the furniture. This one is quite pricey but it gets the general point across very well:...See MoreFamily Room: Need rug and coffee table suggestions
Comments (20)Hi Jck910! I think the rugs you suggested are beautiful. I like the middle one the most. I think the others are not quite my taste. However, I am very curious to see if it meshes well with the taupe sofas and blue accent chairs....See MoreRelated Professionals
