Most of them are for windows that are much longer than they are wide. I've been doing them in a laundry tub, 1/2 at a time. (Dunk one end, soak and scrub, then flip them around and do it again.) I have one set that just won't fit. Going to have to try a bathtub with that one. I've been using one of those 'ultimate duster cloths'. The dust on some just wipes off. On others where windows are sometimes open to the elements, they're stickier and actually dirty, so I'm scrubbing with it. The truly nasty ones, I'm soaking in detergent and bleach water. Had ten of those. And someday I'm going to replace the bulk of these puppies with other window coverings. Ones that I can either wash in a machine or send to a dry cleaners. Blinds are for the birds! I like the idea of that for a birthday present! Unfortunately my birthday isn't until April. LOL...See MoreMy First Ever Quilt Retreat Experience
Comments (7)Well the kind of "trouble" I was referring to is fabric shopping! I was on a "program" of buying only what I needed for a specified project, not just because it was on sale or because "it is the most beautiful piece of fabric I have ever seen and I absolutely must have it" or because it called to me across the crowded shop. I KNOW you ALL l know what I mean! However, when you go to a quilt shop with a group of friends some of whom shop like they are using someone elses' money, you just get kinda caught up in the frenzy...that is the enabling I was speaking of. All in fun though....AND I now have a beautiful piece of chocolate brown to make a fall handbag out of. My grandaughter is gonna get a new flannel Christmas sheet, and I just know I will find a use/project for those 4 bags of Moda Scraps, fat quarters, and charm squares I simply could not pass up. LOL Now you know the kind of trouble I was referring too. Sorry to disappoint you....the other kinds of "trouble", I try to keep to myself. HAHAHA!!!! Beeohio, that is exactly the pattern I am using. I did not know about the Fons & Porter one though. Will have to look it up. Fran, the meals were included so we didn't have to do anything but walk down the hall to the dining room. Interrupted quilting only for however long it took you to eat!! And the meals were very good. Of course anything I don't have to cook is generally good! Patsy, the wire shelves are something I am going to see if I can put them on my "storage" table to add a little vertical storage to that area. I think I have a couple of those shelves...I use them in my closet and in my kitchen cabinets. Thanks to all who responded to my post. Maybe I will be able to attend the next retreat planned for the forum. Murphy...See MoreSausage Rolls
Comments (4)Well, they certainly aren't so special with basic pastry. I had one and that was fine with me. Others took more and liked them. I would rather use my pastry for other things. I baked them on convection and they held together well enough....See MoreCooking Italian turkey sausage in the oven?
Comments (20)Colleen, it's not hard. It's messy. With the bulk sausage, you just open the package and dump in the pan. It saves time and effort, and is less wasteful because someone had to encase all those sausages just for me to undo them. With modern packaging it isn't necessary, and the packaging materials are the same whether it's stuffed in casings or a brick of bulk, so no savings there. If I'd been able to cook them in the oven, I might have had the oomph to finish making the lasagna. ;)...See MoreKathsgrdn
