Celery green couch too trendy? What color accent chairs?
Comments (15)Lovesummer, your room is really pretty. You have mixed the green and beige very nicely. Thanks to everyone for the reassurance about the green sofa. I can't believe I might be abandoning my "beige" living room that I had planned for the past year, but I have to say I really love the green. I know I may grow tired of it in a few years, but that could happen with beige as well. The beige could also look dirty in a few years, not from that much use - living room not used much, but from my two dogs who like to rub themselves along furniture. I know I'm rationalizing. I am going to post another thread today with a couple difference fabric choices I have picked out for 2 accent chairs. Hope I get alot of help again!...See MoreWall color to complement taupe couch?
Comments (28)I think I've almost got a color narrowed down. I found a really nice grey that is almost right, so I'm going to try to get a darker sample and see if it will be as fantastic as I'm hoping it will be. However, I've hit another problem. As I look at my fireplace (which I hope to strip back down to its natural brick), I've realized that the proportions are really throwing me off. The mantle seems too small considering the size of the fireplace. Am I crazy in thinking so? Something has to be done with the mantle anyway, since it's not even attached to the fireplace. We can pull it right off, which seems a bit dangerous since there's also an outlet built into it. I like the look of this sort of fireplace, with the pretty white wood against the dark brick. They even have dark walls, which helps me to visualize what mine could look like. But given the shape of mine, I can't really see a way to achieve that look. Any ideas on how I might? The bits of brick that stick out at the top, as well as the fact that my brick doesn't extend to the ceiling, has me thinking I won't be able to just attach boards. Maybe I should just make the mantle a bit thicker? From the floor to the top of the brick is 52 3/4" and the width is 55 1/2", if that helps....See MoreWall color for dark gray couch with yellow accent pillows
Comments (7)I LOVE the couch!!!! It works SO WELL with other pieces of furniture. I can do cream, brown, taupe, AND charcoal with it. Let me Greige is a better color for it than true gray! In fact, I'd say that color you selected is PERFECT. Here is what I've done with the rest of the room. This is far from complete--it's been tweaked several times, in fact, since I took these pictures because it's a work in progress. :) But this is a general idea of what else you can do. I'm not sold on the abstract, BTW, and there's more art coming. Also, you can dress it up more or down. This is the old, horrible gray wall. And ancient carpet. LOL. And I didn't make the kids pick up the cruft of the day before taking the photos, either. This is also before the throw (yellow, gray, and white chevrons) came in that I cover the center section of the sofa with to give the younger kids something safe to sit on. I've already had to wash it once!...See MoreIncorporate Accent Colors with Taupe Sectional
Comments (10)Let's start with a couple of pillow options that might work with the colors in your rug and sofa and bring in a third color. Do any of these appeal to you? Well, it appears Houzz is still having problems adding photos so here are some links. https://www.target.com/p/pillow-perfect-finders-throw-pillow-dark-blue-18-5-x11-5/-/A-16947076?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Home+Decor+Shopping&adgroup=SC_Home+Decor&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=s&device=c&location=9012215&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgb3OBRDNARIsAOyZbxDILwB4DI6d1dQdJXSGW1K2_1dHzCq4aPZOY9ODpHmD8k_gk3noEa0aAq8yEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.amazon.com/Pillow-Perfect-Finders-Keepers-16-5-Inch/dp/B00MGF0TI0 https://www.etsy.com/listing/255836473/kravet-jellybean-pillow-cover-both-sides?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_b-home_and_living-home_decor-decorative_pillows&utm_custom1=821fc625-45fa-42bd-98b5-170595ea2e3b&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgb3OBRDNARIsAOyZbxD4VRqls97vCUxh2MchyK3gMb4FMe9atxljpRRda5Xbx28sxMk-GRUaAi5hEALw_wcB...See Moresemonem
