Anyone else noticed a huge number of SASE requests?
Comments (44)Gwen don't feel bad. Katheria you shouldn't either. I wasn't familiar with the rules when I first came here. I was so worried about what I included in my first trade and felt terrible when the person I traded with sent me at least twice the amount that I sent them. lol I just think that many of us that used to post a lot of offers have cut back because of things that have happened such as what Poisondartfrog mentioned. I should have clarified when I said that I was annoyed by those who responded to all offers. I don't understand why someone, not a newbie, would reply to everything that was offered regardless what it was. For a newbie it's a way of building up a stash to use for trade and is understandable but not a member that's been here for long time. The most annoying to me are the people that respond but don't follow thru and it's been happening more and more lately. If you change your mind about an offer just let the person know that you changed your mind and no longer want it. That's no big deal and is just common courtesy. Karen I take the emailing cold as someone asking for plants or seeds that I haven't offered but just talked about in a post. I have no problem if someone asks me where I got something or if I'd be interested in trading. I've occasionally contacted someone regarding a plant they've posted about just because I thought it was interesting. Another thing that bothers me are the people that come here, respond to a bunch of offers then just disappear after they've gotten what they wanted. I see this mainly on plant specific forums. When I post an offer on the brug forum I open it only to people that regularly post. As for trade lists I don't have any posted because there's too many items and it changes too often but I do try to remember to let that be known when I post or respond to an offer. I just reread what I've written. I sound like a bi*ch. lol Really, I'm not : )...See MoreHas anyone else done this???
Comments (20)Hi all! Sorry I didn't get to join in on the conversations earlier today-had to work :( The rooting hormone I used was some Walmart cheapie that has been under my sink for 2 years. Must have worked though! My problem is that my friends don't really care much for plants. Especially plants that have to be brought in over the winter. I don't think I have one single friend with a basement. Now, another question, since these are already growing in pots, can they be removed and shipped bare root this spring? Is that safe to do? If so, I will have plenty to send out. If not, this Illinois weather isn't the greatest for setting around brugs. They may like full sun, but the 95-100 degree days we got were rough on them, so I kept having to move them. If I can send these out safely in the spring, I think that would be my best bet and learn my lesson for next year! Joyceann...See MoreI'm about to be an enabler... has anyone here seen Joni's sale?
Comments (34)GG- thank you for sharing those links with me! David- I think you have the most awesome set up- I love how neat everything is- all in rows :) The plants are just gorgeous! I agree with Kelly- MORE than impressive! Isn't it nice(or perhaps slightly weird) to know so many people are living vicariously through your photos?!? lol I've added another 5 Hoya just this past week, and my 'want' list is still a mile long! Hubs is starting to worry that I may have a hoarding problem. I told him it was okay until we could no longer use certain rooms of the house, then I would agree that I might have a *slight* problem. Thank goodness all this is giving him the motivation to get moving on building me a small greenhouse! Of course, he thinks that the house will be less 'plant-full', but we all know that it just means more room for more plants!...See MoreHas anyone here seen War Horse?
Comments (22)Lynn, first of all, your son is incredibly brave, & I so admire & appreciate his commitment & service. Yes, I can see how the timing may not be the best for you right now. I think you would like the movie, & indeed, you would appreciate the artistry, as you so well put it, but at another time. Maire, I know...Pepsi & Folger's holiday commercials have brought a tear to my eye! Bestyears, that's a fabulous idea. Spielberg is so incredibly gifted, & he explores lessons of history in a manner that does indeed pull up intense emotions, but therefore connects so powerfully with us. Not too many people know how to do that! Nancy, that's understandable. Maybe when it comes out on dvd you may decide to watch it. I am glad I saw it, but it isn't a "gather the whole family, everyone should see this" sort of movie either...at all! Auntjen...omg, the photography, the images, the scenes of that village, are stunningly beautiful! How fortunate you are to be visiting nearby! You may find it interesting that the book was written 40 years ago, & I read that the author conducted interviews with residents of that village who were WWI survivors. He said that next best thing to being in the place & time you are writing about is to interview people who were there, & that's how he pieced together this incredible story. Tina, yes, I too seem to be drawn to tear-jerkers, & I was just telling someone that the next movie I want to see is the movie about 911 with Tom Hanks, LOL! (Glutton for punishment?) If you like movies that make you cry, War Horse won't disappoint. I'm not talking, "bring a tissue!" but "bring a box of Kleenex!" However, be prepared, it's not just sad...some scenes for me at least, were really upsetting. It's really helpful to learn what others think about the film. I feel a sense of relief, in a way, that others were really impacted by it. When I left the theater I noticed that the rest of the audience didn't seem so torn up. Of course, who knows what others were thinking? Some people just don't show how they feel on the outside. I was certainly trying my best to gain my composure as I exited the theater as well...not an easy task when one has mascara streaked allover their face!...See MoreLaurie H
