Can you post a picture of the brick and siding closer up with good lighting so we can see what color they are? Because of the differences in lighting, to me the picture of the front of the house looks like a different color than the back of the house. Unless the siding on the gables on the front is different than the siding on the back?

The bench is too big for the porch, the whole area is too dark and uninviting. I would paint the front door lighter to brighten the space and show it IS the entrance.

I don’t think there is any green siding. I think it is a tan or taupe color. After the rain I will get a another pic of the siding up close. I totally agree about the front porch. My sister gave me the bench before she passed so it is like gum on my shoe but maybe I could up-cycle it into something small and lighter in color. I have thought the same thing about a rug as well. Thank you so much for your suggestions. I so badly want to feel like our homes exterior makes sense and matches.

I suggest your paint the garage doors in black for contrast and the front door white since it seems to be a dark area. I would keep the bench, it seems to be quite nice and a memory of your sister, all it needs is a white of light beige seat cushion and colourful accent pillows to make it stand out on the veranda. You can also improve your flowerbeds by adding more shrubs and flowers.

I think topiaries are too formal a look for your home. Take house pix to a local nursery for suggestions that do well in your area, are low maintenance and give a light an airy feeling to the heaviness of the all brick facade. Look to your brick or mortar for a direction to take the trim color.

Maybe formal that is the word I am looking for.
