I get a little annoyed when they leave a box against the gate because that means I can't open the gate and have to go around through the garage to get the box. But, hey, if they just deliver to the right address, I won't complain too much. I set a low bar for delivery folks and am pleasantly surprised when a box shows up on my porch instead of some other weird place.

I was waiting for my wall calendar to be delivered. I don’t think I had notifications on, and it never appeared at my house. Not under the doormat, nothing. I called the company. they contacted the delivery person. He had put it on a chair on the front porch, behind the cushion. That pack was plain cardboard, the chair was weatheed wood, and the cushion kind of nautral colors and slightly bigger than the package, so the package was well-camouflaged. Even acter they said it was there, I couldn’t see it and had to pull the cushion completely away. I guess I’m glad they secured it, but gee, it was just a calendar. Now I always turn on notifications, and many services take a photo of where they leave it.

I haven’t had anything left in front of the garage door, though! Yikes!

When my sink was delivered in Cathedral City while I was not there, it was left right next to my garage door on a palette. This weighed 123 pounds total. I was still able to open the garage door without moving the palette, but it was difficult to get the palette onto a dolly to bring it inside the garage.

On Friday, a large package was left on my front door that was addressed to someone on the parallel street behind me that had the same house number as mine. It was somewhat heavy and bulky, and so I went to the house where it should have been delivered and left a note with my phone number so that he could call me and pick it up. I was not going to deliver it to his porch.

In a couple of hours, his wife got the note and called me, and then she came over to pick up the package.

You are definitely lucky when things get delivered to the correct address. I was lucky that I only had to go three blocks to deliver the note - the address could have been across town, in which case I would have mailed a letter.

I tried to call the guy (I found his phone number on line), but his voice mailbox was full and would not accept any more messages. His wife called me from a different number, which I guess was her cell phone, and I picked up, even though the area code was nowhere near this neighborhood.

For every homeowner receiving a package there are just as many special instructions as to where they would prefer the package be left. It's a crap shoot and they are in a hurry. Dump and go is all they think about. It's all they have time for.

I wish they would ring doorbell when leaving a package at front door. I'm retired and home most of the time and would appreciate the notice especially in the pouring rain!. How hard is it to ring a doorbell if you're already at the door?

I've had great and horrible delivery people. Well, most have been great. Our first USPS delivery guy used to put all out packages in SOs boat that was parked in our carport. He caught me outside one day and asked if that was okay before he started doing it. I thought it was nice of him. My next USPS mail troll was a horrible,decrepit demon named Sandra who wouldn't deliver my packages at all, and eventually refused to even deliver my mail. The people on her route made enough organized scenes at the post office that she was FINALLY removed. I think we were her fifth route. I dont know why she wasn't fired after the first 4 hated her guts too. Perhaps because her husband was the local president of their union. Anyway, she's gone and while the new replacement is not horrible like Sandra was, she tends to leave my packages put in the open, where they can get rained on,or in random spots like in the seat of our go cart or behind something. We sometimes have to pull up footage from our cameras to see where she left them. But no REAL complaints. I guess when you have had the worst thing possible, small annoyances dont bother one as much. The weekend USPS man brings them to the door and puts them on the steps in my carport,which I like.

FedEx is hit or miss. They can't seem to keep a consistent driver on this route. Some of them are fine, some of them leave my stuff at my one neighbors house, which is irritating, but not enough to make a fuss over.

I love the UPS driver. His name is Bud and SO knows him some way or another. He always brings the packages right to the door. Unless one or the other of is is outside. If it is heavy he will bring it inside for me. If it is something like a car part he will take it down to SOs shop for him,as they tend to be heavy as well.Last time he was here he brought me my fruit trees that I ordered. I was planting azaleas all the way on the other side of my yard and was attempting to take some very heavy bags of jungle growth soil over there on our dolly. He told me to hold on, got his MUCH better dolly, transfered the bags of dirt from mine to his and took them over there for me.

With online ordering of everything becoming the norm, and more and more people needed to deliver it, it makes sense that you will get a mix of good,bad and okay.

I for one am rather glad that no one knocks or rings the doorbell for deliveries. I am a night minion, sleep during the day on those days I am scheduled to work that night, and wouldn't like very much to be woken up for that one pack of 50 pink heart shaped straws I had to have.......it can wait until I get up.

The tree removal people messed my fence up. I was told they were just going to open both sides but they pulled the unmovable post and side piece completely out of the concrete it was in. I know my tree limbs were big but they would've fit through the gate openings. I went to Tractor Supply to get some rebar to fix it. I thought I could mallet down two peices on either side but it didn't help. So, now I have to take the fence/gate apart so I can try and pound one of the peices of rebar into the ground so it will stick up into the post. I may have to also recement it in. I'm a little annoyed but now, not so much. I guess it could've been much worse.

I can under stand why the driver left the chewy box by the garage door. It could of meant you have a large dog. They aren't taking unnecessary chances and i don't blame them. . My husband had to go into people's homes for his employment. He was bite several time by the dogs that the owner said didn't bite.

My daughter had a Rottweiler. Big mean powerful looking dog, but really a pussycat. The drivers didn't know that and they would always leave her packages in front of her garage door. She understood why they left it at the garage. It took her a whole 2 seconds to look behind the car after opening up the garage door before she got in the car. .

Based on my lousy experiences with the USPS (they go days without delivering our mail), I'm just thrilled when my stuff shows up. So put my packages by the front door, back door, side door, garage door, ring my bell, don't ring my bell - I don't care. Just deliver my stuff to my actual address promptly and I'm happy as a clam.

The only bad thing I had happen with a delivery was something that got delivered (allegedly) to my stepdaughter's home because I forgot to check the delivery address when I placed the order. It never showed up, the delivery person noted it was left 'on the porch', but they didn't HAVE a porch. I tried to contest it, but seller said it was delivered and that was the end of it.

Just wondering, don't many places have a way to add a note to an order for things like where to leave the package? I don't usually use it, but many of co.s I deal with do have that feature.

I don't think they're afraid of my dog since he's inside the house and barks when someone comes near the house. He is obviously inside. Most of them have put the Chewy boxes of dog food on my porch. Making it easy to roll it in and slide it on my pergo flooring. Getting it from the driveway, through my garage, up the steps, into the kitchen was a pain in the butt.

I ordered an air fryer from Amazon a few weeks ago. The box was quite large and not so light. The driver could have left it on the corner of my deck that is attached to the front stoop which would have left me plenty of room to open the door and bring it inside. Instead he left it in front of my door giving me *just* enough room to squeeze out of the door, but not enough form me to open the door wide and lock it open (the screen door has a latch that keeps it from closing) so I could pick it up and bring it inside.

To be fair, it's true most delivery companies have extremely tight schedules with quotas for their drivers, and they are allotted a certain amount of time to deliver something.

Also to be fair Kathsgrdn, many people may have more than one dog...
