Bath tile for Taj Mahal countertop
Comments (6)that subway tile is too creamy yellow. Taj is a cooler toned stone. more grays and cooler whites. I wouldn't use anything yellow based. These do not really go together. for sure the yellow/peach tile doesn't I personally think the "travertine-look" larger tile is too busy, will compete w/both flooring and the Taj, and quite frankly has had it's day. I'd do something like this,, any of these look great w/taj. the mosaics would work on the shower floor and the niche or accent. or, look at these for larger tiles for either your bathroom floor, or even the shower walls. 16x16 Terrazzo kashmir,, next one is Tilebar, 24x24 porcelain, matte limestone-look. (I love that tile) Tilebar Cavatina is also nice. these come in a 12x24 size too. I'd use this or the one above, over that other tile you picked. (ignore the decorative tile) Do a 3x12 or 4x12 subway tile set in a stacked pattern. Or this tile in a white or soft gray, also in this same layout. are you dead set on the wood look tile in the bathroom? is this a rustic house? is this the look you want w/your tile in the shower and the wood look tile? I would use a solid porcelain tile for the bathroom floor, maybe in a herringbone. a darker, warmer gray would look nice. (or a soft white) Or, this herringbone below would look killer on the floor, or even in the shower. Finland White wood tile at Floor and Decor. that wood look tile looks nice in a bathroom that has more of a country feel. is your bathroom country style? I'd say no based on the style of that traditional vanity. the two styles clash. as do the different larger tiles you've chosen. A Zellige tile would look amazing w/the Taj. it's here on the floor. and doing a busy mosaic pattern inside of a busy larger tile, just looks busy. especially with all of the other busy tile (floors and countertop) you have. Look at Cloe tile. they have a soft gray or a white that would be perfect w/Taj. Diff sizes and shapes too what if you got Taj Majal tiles? You don't have to go to this extent, but they'd look nice on the floor or in the shower taj countertop, lighter, creamier/gray flooring...See MoreTaj Mahal Quartzite - Opinions on our Counter Top Selection?
Comments (5)Wow the black and soft white w the Taj is going to look amaaaazinggg!! I use black as accents in the kitchen as my center island is a deep Tuscany green and cabs are White Duck. I racked my brains for months looking for backsplash and then I remembered in one of my bathrooms I used this oyster color very elongated subway tile with a soft wave. Went out to my storage to get a few pieces and laid it on there and it was perfect. It was this very soft and neutral greige color. If he’ll go back through my old post you should see pictures of my cabinets Taj Mahal and backsplash as I just cannot remember at this time. after the fact I wish I would’ve brought the Taj all the way up the wall but I’m glad now how it all turned out. So exciting for you in this phase-Good luck!...See MoreQuartzite kitchen countertop Taj Mahal, Perla Venta or Cristallo? Sink
Comments (5)You can't use the Elkay ELXUFP362010PAO to which you linked becaust it has a full apron and requires a cabinet that accommodates a full apron sink. If you're not getting new cabinets, you'll have to use theElkay ELXUFP3620PAO to get the Parchment color you want. It's easily converted to a workstation sink by having your top fabricator leave a 1/2" rear reveal and having your handyman rabbet a cutting board which is much easier than having him alter your cabinet doors to be able to use the full apron sink. The Elkay ELXFDB3620BGRTO is a possible short apron workstation alternative, however, you'll have to get it in Ricotta which is bright white. Either sink is 36", so your refacer is going to have to leave you a left and a right side dummy drawer to butt to the apron and cover the remaining 6 " or so. It will look fine. I'd get the 3cm. "Is there an advantage to using an apron front and single bowl versus an undermount & double bowl?" Yes. An apron front sink can help greatly with seam placement and veining/movement matching because the only place the slabs touch is in the rear, mostly out of sight and the seam is half covered by the faucet and splash. 98% of my sink replacement customers go from a double full divide to a single bowl. 1% get low divides and 1% fully divided replacements. "Also should we try for a sink deck? Sink cabinets are 48 inches wide. 25 inches deep. We would like a large sink." If you want a 48" sink with an apron that fits perfectly without door alteration and has a faucet deck, you'll have to go custom stainless steel for 4K or so: Bars in islands are out of style right now. It isn't the difference in fabrication costs as much as it is in reworking the electrical, cabinet and wall alterations, etc. No matter what quartzite you choose, make your fabricator take you to the homes of jobs he's already done so you can verify he knows the properties of the stones he sells so bleeding adhesives and other catastrophies aren't an issue....See MoreNeed help finding flooring to go with Taj Mahal counters in kitchen
Comments (14)Thank you to all who responded - this is my first time posting anything, so apologize for my deficiencies here ;). I just uploaded a few photos but the lighting is not great as it is early morning and no natural light is in the room. But my taj mahal is more brown than gray, more warm than cool. In the one photo I included a tile I am considering - it is the lightest one. I am trying to pick up the light parts of my taj but having trouble finding tile that is not too white, gray or yellow. I have considered brick and I like the sample in the photo I included but not sure if brick is too busy and if this brick is too gray. And lastly, the tiled area runs against my living and dining that has wood that I am not ready to replace, thus ruling out wood. Question, if I did a drastically different wood-look tile and ran in opposite direction, could I get away with this against the other wood? Like white-washed wide plank running opposite direction to the floor as pictured here. Your help is so appreciated. I have been looking for new flooring for over 2 years, which is maddening!...See MoreSammie J
