Complementary countertop for Taj Mahal?
Comments (5)I know you can't see this very well in this photo but it looks nice with the Taj on the island. It appears to be a solid surface in a taupe-y grey color on the perimeter. If you go with granite, you could have it honed to knock off the shine. You could try something like Caledonia just to check if that would look ok with it, it's a grey stone. One of the black honed granites would be a nice compliment as well as long as it were a more dusty black and honed I think it would be pretty with it or a solid surface off white may work well. Here are some photos, one has stainless steel by the stove. Good luck! Comments (1)I have these countertops and it depends on your color balance. every room should have light, medium, and dark tones. now dark doesnt need to mean black, but the darkesst tone in the room. for yu, it might be your floor or that maybe the lightest as we don't have sample pictures. If your floors are light, I'd recommend darker hardware and accent pieces. everything then would be very light and i would use a midtone (a color between your lightest and darkest piece) that has a bit of yellow or rust to it (though the countertop can be beige, gray, and white with a rust veining, it can also be green. So I recommend picking your exact slab of quartzite, because if you don't, you won't know which you will get. Anyways, my style isnt everyones, but this can give you an idea. The stone on the right has every color in the cabinets, back splash, appliances, and the countertop. So one of these colors, even in a lighter or darker tone, should work. If you can get samples of each piece and create a board for the room, this may also help you select the right color for you and your home....See MoreIs Taj Mahal counters too busy for Zellige tile backsplash
Comments (9)Many on this forum have a fear of mixing anything but plain subway with Taj Mahal ... and most of them have never designed a kitchen with TM! Depending on the slab of TM, it can actually look quite muted and "boring" once installed. Some people like mixing color and/or pattern, and others don't, buy it doesn't mean that both design styles can't work. These are some of my favorites. Not white cabinets, but the bold tile fits with the TM and the rest of the overall design of the house. I used this marble mosaic with my TM and BM Chantilly Lace cabinets. The brown marble ties into the wood floors, wood ceiling beams and brown veins in TM....See MoreJAN MOYER
