Remodeling Design Dilemma Kitchens

help with hardware sizes

I have been reading many discussions trying to decide on kitchen hardware and I am horrible at making decisions but I am running out of time to decide so I'm leaning towards pulls for everything. My question is what size to use. For my uppers I have 38", 29" and 20" tall cabinets plus I have pantry doors. If I use say 5'' pulls on the 38'' and 29'' will that same size look funny on a 20'' door? Also for the drawers they range in size from 14'' to 30'' wide. I have seen the rule for 1/3 the door but I am worried that I need too many sizes and maybe I am complicating it. I am so indecisive, help plz

IMO I never use 2 pulls on a wid drawer they are never a good idea since when you use them you always have a different pull strenght in your different hand a so anice long pull you use from the center is IMO always best . I like simple stainless pulls from Lee Valley they come in a huge choice of sizes so ypou can do something like this where the pulls ar ein proprtion to your cabinet sizes and I often do some hrizontal and some vertical Use painter stape to figure out the proportions and do not be rushed into this part . IMO 30% 0f the drawer width looks too small

It depends on the design of your cabinet doors to some extent. I agree with Pat about using a center-mounted pull for drawers so there is never any issue of them racking out of shape because only one of two pulls is used again and again.

Some people prefer knobs for doors and pulls for drawers.

However, there are cases where drawers are too small to accommodate a pull and so a knob is the best solution for those circumstances.

check out the amerock "highland ridge" collection. we got these and they "feel" awesome. real hefty and solid. we got them in the rubbed bronze and they are gorgeous!! we did a mix of the rectangle knob and pulls. they also carry the appliance pulls if u need them. there is also a backplate that we are using on the dining room cabs for a more formal look. and there is also a latch that i loved, but we couldn't use it anywhere, not the right cabinet.. it needs to be flush. lots of options, which is great as far as your question, our kd and i decided. she does it everyday, so i trusted her judgement. i just wanted a mix of pulls and knobs. didn't want everything to be the same. knobs on uppers and mix of pulls and knobs on bottom. good luck, the little things really get you, hang in, its all worth it!!!!!

In kids bathrooms, size the mirrors proportionately to the sinks and cabinet doors below. I'd do a rectangular white frame to match the cabinets. They can be replaced with larger when desired. As for hardware, I'd want it to be chrome. You didn't ask, but flat panel drawers are ideal in a bathroom. The shaker flat edge will catch lots of dust and stuff and be harder to clean as well.

Beth this is a huge help! Thanks again, I agree on the knobs for the short cabinets. I think I can get away with using the same size pulls on the draws and doors (middle row) and using a larger pull for the pantry door. My longest draw/door is 30in and my shortest is 23. What size pulls would you suggest? I see a lot of pictures use small pulls and simply use two on the longer cabinets but Im not a fan of that look. Also, I was saving adding glass to the kitchen cabinets for last but now you have me thinking to move it way up on my list! Arcy- I do not have children but even if I did, I would still use pulls on the drawers because my mom had knobs and I still managed to find my way to the counter top, esp for treats :). Also, the top cabinet is not made to push then pop.

Painter came today and removed all the cabinet doors and drawer fronts to sand and started the primer so I have a few days to decide... excuse the mess, this was taken this evening so primer looks dark in pic without natural light will try to take one with sunlight tomorrow. I actually like the primer color it's more of a blue grey so trying to find something like that in a lighter grey.
