Bathroom Sink Size Guide
Find out how to make standard sink dimensions work for your bathroom

Standard bathroom sink dimensions don’t exactly exist, but there are a few common sizes that seem to stand the test of time. Generally, rectangular bathroom sinks will run anywhere from 19 to 24 inches wide (side to side) and 16 to 23 inches in length (front to back). Circular bathroom sinks typically range from 15 to 20 inches in diameter. All bathroom sinks are around 5 to 8 inches deep, with exceptions of course. Choosing an appropriately sized bathroom sink will help all the other details fall into place — let this guide help you get it right the first time.
Pick the Right Bathroom Sink Size
When it comes to picking the right bathroom sink dimensions for a new or existing space, it’s both a matter of preference and space limitations. If you are replacing an existing sink, you’ll need to work with current vanity and counter dimensions as well as plumbing hookups. You’ll also need to consider your faucet choice to make sure the sink you want has the correct number of faucet holes, if applicable.

Single Bathroom Sink Size
If you’re going for a single sink, aim to have a minimum of 30 inches of counter width (yes, that includes the width of the sink). With a 19- to 24-inch-wide sink, this will give you about three to five inches of counter space on either side of the sink — just enough to place essential items. If you have the space, go for 36- to 48-inch-wide counters instead. If you want more counter space, look for a smaller sink to maximize your space.
Tip: Undermount sinks allow you to keep every inch of your counter free for use.

Double Bathroom Sink Size
For those who are lucky enough to have two sinks in their bathroom, aim for a 60-inch-wide counter at the very minimum. With a standard bathroom sink width, this will give each person their own three to five inches on each side of the sink. Again, if you have the room, go wider. 72-inch counters would provide a much more spacious feel so you aren’t bumping elbows with your partner.

Pedestal Sink Size
If you’re extra tight on space, a standalone sink, like a pedestal sink, is a great option. While you lose out on counter space, you still get a full-size sink that functions with the best of them. Can’t give up all counter space? Look for a pedestal sink that has a small rim around it that’s big enough to place the essentials.

Wall-Mount Sink Size
Ok with giving up all counter space? Try a wall-hung sink. You can squeeze the extra inches of counter into the actual sink, creating a basin that’s wider than standard bathroom sink sizes. Your sink can now double as a spot to soak clothes or even bath an infant or small pet! Alternatively, you can find a wall-mount sink that is much smaller than your standard sink, perfect for tight spots like powder rooms.

Vessel Sink Size
Vessel sinks certainly make a statement, sitting on top of the bathroom counter in all their glory. While they can bring a stylish look and feel to your room, be aware that they are often on the shallower side. If you use your sink for multiple purposes, like laundry, you might want to reconsider this style. A typical vessel sink may have the full width and length of a standard sink size, but their depth is often only four to five inches — just enough to wash your hands in.
