We actually had a queen size bed that was placed between the 2 windows...and did the accent wall in brown behind. However, we recently bought king size and the bed with nightstands no longer fit on the window wall. Bed had to move to the 'long' wall. Painting the room is a must. (I made a mistake in the upholstered headboard...I wanted more off white/ivory than beige/oatmeal colour...) Other idea I'm thinking of is to paint all walls the same colour and then installing wainscotting. I do like the brown, but I'm used to living with softer colours and might find all walls painted brown too oppressive for me...thus wondering if I should go with a creamy beige or a blue/gray) Do you think wainscotting would be ok with the style of this room? Do you have room to walk around bed if you move the dresser under the tv? Looks like y'all have the bed and tv lined up for watching at night. My small bedroom is 11' deep and there is room for the bed (like you have it) with my dresser against the wall facing the bed... which would be under the tv in your room. I still have a 2' walkway between bed and dresser. You might want to turn the rug you got 90 degrees and put it at foot of the bed so that it pads the walkway in front of dresser and grounds the bed. The other thing I see is how harsh the window looks. I have an awkwardly placed window in my bedroom also that fights with furniture placement. My solution is hanging a curtain to cover the whole wall. I am in process of doing that now. Use a light colored fabric that lets light through so the room isn't too dark. You can get inexpensive panels (www.wayfare.com is a good source) that go floor to ceiling. Adds a bit of style to the room and fixes the unbalanced look of the window. I did this in my Nashville cottage behind my bed because of similar issues, using cheap off-white curtain panels. It made the room. To cover a wall with curtain I use a dowel instead of a curtain rod. Much less expensive and you don't see it anyway. Use 3 rod brackets (one in middle). Or order a ceiling mount curtain track. I got one for $49 on amazon.com and created a closet in our laundry room. I see it at www.amazon.com/Curtain-Rod-connection. (I prefer the dowel option in a bedroom) I hate attaching these pics because rooms are in process (dresser needs to be painted) but this may help. This is an 11' deep room with a queen size bed and a dresser that is 18" deep. That's my dog's bed on the floor. It gets pushed under the dresser in the daytime. The laundry room was big a d empty and I needed clothes hanging space. I had the curtains and the went with the navy squares in the vinyl flooring that I didn't want to replace. Thats a utility sink at the end so I built a wall/divider to create the closet and used pegboard as wall board to create storage options (hang purses inside closet area and tools in sink area.

I would start with your lighting. What kelvin bulbs are you using? We used SW Alabaster in my daughters house. It is the main wall color throughout but she has mixed it with gray accent walls in her kitchen/dining room. All ceiling, base and door trim is SW Extra White. The kitchen cabinets are an off white and island is dark gray with white subway tile. The Alabaster looks fine in her house and doesn’t appear yellow like yours though that can be the photo. It’s difficult to capture the true color. I do know we had to change from her initial gray choices as they were way off once we did samples and checked throughout the day with different light. Once you try different bulbs, I would ask your SW store for a paint deck to bring home to choose several to get samples. I always paint samples on large panels and move around in different light. You might also go to a tile store and check out sample boards. Google the term “grays that go with SW Alabaster” and you’ll find many colors go beautifully with Alabaster. Can you take another photo further back so we see more of the room? What rooms are adjacent?

Haven't read through the thread but will share this: I do like the black and white vibe you have going but wouldn't add much, if any, more black. Would definitely want to keep the walls really light in a north facing room so you can keep the furnishings you choose --even dark ones -- and yet not end up with a cave vibe. Would not use wall paper. Strategically placing a mirror can reflect outdoor light from the windows.
