Are you Happy with your 36" Single Door Sub Zero?
Comments (9)thanks all for the responses. i thought it would be ok but wanted some assurance. i don't buy a ton of groceries at once. i buy for a few days at a time. it's just that we are going from an LG SxS non counter depth and the door shelves are huge! we store so much there including loads of vitamin bottles, condiments, cooking wine, those big bottles of fish sauce, a huge bottle of margarita mix on the bottom shelf, etc. and it's a very "out of sight" kind of set up so they're not in the way when you don't need them. i know this won't be possible with the SZ but it will be nice to have the room for platters etc. and not have things disappear to the back depths. plllog, i meant the single door fridge w/bottom freezer. nycbluedevil, no idea why i felt the french door was so heavy. we were pretty much set on an FD due to clearance but i felt opening both doors (which i know we will do everytime we go to the fridge) was very cumbersome. maybe because i was comparing it to the electrolux icon counter depth model we were looking at? not sure, but we both agreed that the single door was easier to handle....See MoreSub Zero Built-in alternative? Comments (15)When you can build in a standard depth refrigerator, what s the point of the expense of going to a built in that isn't that disguised to begin with? Sure, a fully integrated fridge is a HUGE visual difference, but a standard built it, not so much. Standard regular depth refrigerater "built in". It's not difficult to design your kitchen with extra deep counters or to recess a regular fridge to achieve this look. And you get a LOT more storage. Built in. (Doesn't fool anyone and costs a lot extra.) Fully integrated. The whole reason to pay for an upgraded "invisible" fridge. It's playing hide and seek and removes itself from the appliance category into the furniture one. (It's the mirrored cabinet, fully invisible.) (The "armoire" is the fridge.)...See MoreSub Zero on Ebay---Would You?
Comments (14)You are not risking $5k. You are risking the hastle of invoking ebay buyer protection/filing CC fraud claim. Ebay buyer protection covers entire purchase price plus shipping. I have saved over $10k on appliances so far and only had to file a claim with ebay once.Took a couple of weeks and got my money back. Purchased a hood with blower that cost $4500 plus 8.75% sales tax at my local authorized dealer for $900 delivered to my door from seller with zero feedback that was just starting his appliance liquidation business. It was absolutely perfect....See MoreRealtors, Builders: is a 36" Sub-Zero too small for a higher-end home?
Comments (33)SZ is certainly a premium brand with the "whoo-hoo" appeal. Sort of sexy, even though the space is very slim. I HATE them, and rejected them for my latest custom build. As a cook, I really need what I just built- an extremely functional kitchen that has a "quadrangle" cooking space. Not just the triangle any more, and my pantry, cook top, oven, and sinks (always one to serve the cooktop)- none of more than a few steps away. It's a dream to cook in, and my refrigerator has a bunch of drawers/compartments.shelves to house all that is needed- at my fingertips. So take care- high end buyers have been through the "wars" with these appliances. If something goes wrong, check into service costs in your area. Make sure you have a LOCAL company, not just an 800#, to call in. It can be very expensive, to fix, and you could be waiting a long time for it. In the meantime, you have a big freezer- completely un-meaningful for me, but maybe you. And another pantry around the corner. High end people who cook often look at the # of steps and meal they can think of will cost them. Hey- if your sales market projects the wealthy younger set, as most probable, no problem. But experience doesn't always love these....See MoreRelated Professionals
