wife just vetoed buying a sub zero 42' refrigerator-now what
Comments (19)lasca - I didn't take it any way, makepar as much said it: "vetoed 7k purchase / which 42" side by side refrigerators should i evaluate / am seeking mid level to upper mid level on price point. " I don't think a pair of Freedoms fall into the mid price catagory even if his DW is tickled pink with them. We might also infer that space is an issue from the OP and 48" might not be possible. You should also take makepar at his word because he SPECIFICALY asked about 42" fridges. So.............1. there are still not many on the market, and 2. they don't fall into the mid price catagory. Of course there are a myriad of options on he market that might appeal to he and his wife if 42" and $$$ are not critical, but that's not what he asked....See MoreSub Zero on Ebay---Would You?
Comments (14)You are not risking $5k. You are risking the hastle of invoking ebay buyer protection/filing CC fraud claim. Ebay buyer protection covers entire purchase price plus shipping. I have saved over $10k on appliances so far and only had to file a claim with ebay once.Took a couple of weeks and got my money back. Purchased a hood with blower that cost $4500 plus 8.75% sales tax at my local authorized dealer for $900 delivered to my door from seller with zero feedback that was just starting his appliance liquidation business. It was absolutely perfect....See MoreRealtors, Builders: is a 36" Sub-Zero too small for a higher-end home?
Comments (33)SZ is certainly a premium brand with the "whoo-hoo" appeal. Sort of sexy, even though the space is very slim. I HATE them, and rejected them for my latest custom build. As a cook, I really need what I just built- an extremely functional kitchen that has a "quadrangle" cooking space. Not just the triangle any more, and my pantry, cook top, oven, and sinks (always one to serve the cooktop)- none of more than a few steps away. It's a dream to cook in, and my refrigerator has a bunch of drawers/compartments.shelves to house all that is needed- at my fingertips. So take care- high end buyers have been through the "wars" with these appliances. If something goes wrong, check into service costs in your area. Make sure you have a LOCAL company, not just an 800#, to call in. It can be very expensive, to fix, and you could be waiting a long time for it. In the meantime, you have a big freezer- completely un-meaningful for me, but maybe you. And another pantry around the corner. High end people who cook often look at the # of steps and meal they can think of will cost them. Hey- if your sales market projects the wealthy younger set, as most probable, no problem. But experience doesn't always love these....See MoreSub Zero - 48 inch - What's your experience been
Comments (22)Brian, I see you have made your decision but I just wanted to add my 2c. In my main house I have the first model of Subzero 48 with water and ice dispenser in the door. it is now 28 years old. . The iceline has finally died but it is not worth the cost of replacing it. Otherwise It is still working well. I do have an additional small undercounter refrigerator for sodas and a freezer in the basement. That freezer would never be enough. In a different house we had the 48 inch without the internal dispenser and it was such a pain. I missed that dispenser in the door. I am doing a kitchen reno in my beach house and replacing the 4th french door refrigerator i have had in this kitchen and which I loathe with a passion. No question; I am only considering a subzero. I want the dispenser in the door again as this is a feature we use all the time. However the dispenser on the subzero is short and cannot accommodate Yeti 30 oz cups which is what we use so I might land up having to open the door for water and ice anyway....See MoreHU-763643672
