I love your spaces! May I ask why the two tables (coffee tables) are running perpendicular to your sofa? They are very pretty I am just confused.

I am not sure what to recommend for your rug but I would stay in the same hue as your jute rug. It looks perfect in your space!

I love your sofa and how you have decorated your room. I like some color on your floor. Have you considered just getting a faux animal rug to layer under coffee tables on top of your jute rug? Might be worth trying. A zebra style comes to mind.

Try the jute rug next to brd. Rattan dining set would work well and not be too much. Looks like coffee tables stack and I’d stack and turn horizontally. For the living room rug, the size is important (it‘s hard to tell in your photo if that size is working).

In regards to style, I’d head towards more of an eclectic feel as you seem to think outside the box.

@amykath Ha, I never thought about that! This comes in a set of 3 but someone dumped the 2 on the side of the road so I took them and have always placed them this way. Are you saying I should put them right next to each other horizontally?

@Maureen The rug is 4x6! I was thinking of getting a new 5x7 scalloped jute rug so that there are a few inches leftover on each side.

@Flo Mangan Love the zebra idea! Are you thinking black and white, or a colored one like this one? For some reason, I tried to stay away from a rug with a lot of white because my walls are white so wasn't sure if it was too much but maybe it's OK?!

I would love to see the rug turned so that it runs horizontal to the sofa. Also, would like to see the tables stacked and running horizonal to the sofa.

You could really keep the jute. Nothing wrong with that rug with your style, etc. And you have enough going on in the space, color-wise, etc. - so I don’t think the rug would be too much jute with the rattan; to the contrary, I think it might actually help to ground the design. But in any case, you could just wait until you get the rattan pieces in before you decide.

But if you just want a change/want to bring in more color - one way is to pick up on your sofa color, and that could ground the space. It could also provide a backdrop for the other art colors, etc..

Another way could be to pick up on your art colors.

It really just depends on the look and feel that you would like to have in the space. You have a great eye. RugsDirect.com, esalerugs, and some other vendors, have a visualizer tool on their site, so you can try out some rugs in your space. If you decide to order, it’s a good idea to get the smallest size first so that you can check for color, texture, etc. - and get a better idea of how the rug might work in your actual space, with your lighting, etc.; so this way, you can potentially avoid having to send back a huge rug, in the event you don’t like it, or if it just doesn’t work, etc.

I think the jute works fine, too. You have a great style.

I also like this pretty rug … the pattern, colors, charm, warmth, and softness it would bring. Adding a hint of traditional to the eclectic mix.

I like the coloration in this rug that njmomma posted. I would also turn the long coffee table and nest the smaller one in with smaller one closer to the sofa. If you get a new rug it should be wider than the one you have. Can you say where you found that sofa? So pretty!

What is the sofa facing? You could just rotate the jute rug, top with the animal hide, nest the coffee tables and turn 90deg (so horizontal to sofa). Then maybe you'd have room for a small chair or 2 to create a conversation area (or even space to bring over dining chairs). Do you have a mat for under your exercise bike? You could anchor that space as a workout area (and save those wood floors from damage/sweat) by getting one- even in a fun color if you'd like!. LOVE your space so far.

The tables are quite small so I thought placing them vertically would be better than horizontally but I'll definitely give that a try when I'm home later. The sofa width is about 63"; the bigger table measures 21" L x 13.25" W x 20.5" H and the smaller one is 16.75"L x 13.5"W x 17.5"H. I understand that you want to define your two areas separately, but you'll get a more cohesive, more open space if you link the green and the blue somehow.

You all have had great suggestions! I think I'm going to give this one a shot. Thanks @Jilly for finding this one! Also including the little bistro set I have my eye on from Target. I think it'll blend nicely!

One buying tip: order the smallest size of the rug you have in mind to see how it looks in the room. Then exchange it for the larger size.

I've also learned that a wool rug, at least for me, feels and looks so much richer than the polyproprene types (which do have fabulous patterns). Sorry if the ones I posted are synthetic--I put them up for color consideration only.

Ooo. Love your dining set. Honestly the reddish jute does go with that. Why don't you make a rug decision after you get the set?

@Gcubed Thank you so much! The sofa is facing my TV and gold bar cart. I used to have a black mat under my Peloton but I got rid of it bc it was too dark. Love the idea of getting another color, though!
