Master Bathroom Remodeling Idea

Please Help!!! I finally found someone to remodel my bathroom in the master bedroom.
But don’t know what to do. The bathroom doesn’t have a door from my bedroom, only where the toilet and bidet are at.
They gave me an idea to remove the wall and leave it as an open concept and add a door. Also to make a bigger shower. But not sure what to do.
Can someone please give me ideas if to remove wall or not? And tiles for walls, floor and vanity. Thank you!!

Remove a wall where? In the bathroom for the toilet room? Put a door where? Between the bedroom and bathroom? That is the only way I can read this that makes any sense. If my guess is right, I do like the idea of adding a door to the whole bathroom. A partner deserves to sleep if the early-bird of the couple rises earlier.

As for taking down the wall to the toilet room, there are a couple of things to consider. If you plan to age in this home, take out the wall because toilet rooms do not have space for a helper, if needed, or a walker or wheelchair. Even younger people with leg injuries or surgery can temporarily not be able to use those toilet rooms.

Reasons to keep it include privacy for those who are not willing to share the bathroom when the partner is on the toilet, and concerns about containing smells (you will need an exhaust fan in both the little room and in the rest of the bathroom if you keep the wall, too). One of the people who frequents this forum calls the little room the “gas chamber” because the smell in there can get quite intense. If you decide to take out the wall, a Toto washlet seat with the deodorizing fan would help with that, but costs nearly a grand. It is also harder to clean when the toilet is in its own tiny room. More corners and tight spaces to clean.

I like the idea of adding the door. Steam needs to be contained. Noises and lights disturb a sleeper.

olychick, thank you for taking a look. :) I'm relieved to hear you think a white shower pan is best. I am heading out now to find porcelain marble look tiles for the shower walls to pick up the gray as you suggested. I want a shiny finish to the walls. Tell me if you think that's a misstep. I am avoiding marble as I have a marble topped vanity now that is pock marked with etchings. As far as seeing myself in the vanity, yes, I think I will be able to do so. I was planning on a black framed mirror spanning the vanity. My current vanity is 32 1/4" high (as will be the new vanity) and when seated on my vanity stool my reflection is seen up to my chest. The only issue currently is that my knees are pressed against drawers. I failed to mention that I was thinking of using absolute black granite for the vanity top for two reasons: one being cost and the other being to avoid etching. Will doing so deviate too much from my inspiration? The "regular" bath layout that jensbride posted first is very similar to what our DD & DS shared for years and worked very well. The door, however, was a pocket style and placed directly across from the toilet. This allowed the vanity to be scooted around the corner to take up the whole wall. It leaves the toilet close to the tub, but with lots of elbow room. Our kids just learned to keep the door partially closed when the bath wasn't in use due to the "view".

Thank you everyone for your feedback. These are really helpful! I've edited OP under last picture to include the approximate dimensions of the closet (and WH) plus total room. Sharon - you got it in the redo, that looks exactly right. I think the furniture piece would have to be on the north wall though (oriented like the vanity). The wall from corner to closet door frame is ~ 29 inches and the vanity is 36 inches. So it would be better to orient the other way? The 3D rendition is very cool. Suzanne - You're right about the baseboard in the bedroom. But I loved the idea, it hadn't even occurred to me to think about it like that. The door into the bedroom is right where the other closet idea would open into, although it could work as bedroom door opens to left. The bedroom has 2 closets on each side of bed (~45X25 in), but it would be good to have some closet type space (or furniture option) in bathroom, at the very least for linens and bath supplies. And you're right about the water heater too (we've replaced it, so had to deal with access). Need to percolate on these! Decoenthusiaste - The family bathroom we redid last winter was all in dark aqua porcelain! At least the shower/bath was full size but what a dark space it was. Can't wait to transform this space either. In regards to having the shower on the left (same as water heater) and double vanity on right, it seems like that will make the vanity/s the focal point (??). How important is that? Do people think a double vanity (vs a large single) is a big deal (from a selling point of view)? We have a family bath (on the other side/east) of wall of this bath. It's the long narrow style, but does have a long double vanity. There's just the 2 of us here now, but the house does have the 4 bedrooms.

Are you planning to keep your tub and shower the way they are? If so I would look for more farmhouse style lighting. Maybe add open wood shelves over the toilet and a rustic small chest of drawers between toilet and tub if space allows. Looks like you have a great space to work!

Install a pocket door at entrance to bathroom from bedroom. The electrical in the bedroom can be moved to accomodate. Are you keeping the tub? I would say if you have another bathroom remove the toilet closet wall for reasons mentioned by Nancy. With a bathroom that much square footage plan on adding some storage for linens that aren’t over the toilet.

You need to hire a kitchen and bath designer first, for the design work you needed to happen, BEFORE you hired any contractor.

Given both those changes, an experienced designer would be a good addition to the project. You can, however ask for design help here in a new thread. You must include a diagram of that area of the house that includes the neighboring rooms, has measurements for every wall, window, and door, and shows placement of electrical and plumbing. You will get a lot of ideas and suggestions. Are you keeping the bidet? Will you consider moving the toilet? What is below this bathroom (ie: basement, crawl space, lower floor of multi-storey home)?

Ok, so I started my master bedroom, and still undecided on a few things. Hoping I can get some ideas on here? 🙏
Luckily my builder is my neighbor and he’s working on others things around the house.
Things I want is a bigger shower, debating to put it by the window or not? No bidet. And maybe a small linen closet.

When we bought this house, there was no door on the master bath. WTH were they thinking??!! I wasted no time in ordering a door and arranging to have it hung.

You might get more help by drawing a diagram of your room with dimensions listed for doorways, walls and windows.
