Thanks Pal - I got the ottoman but the chair wouldn't fit (for some reason forgot to cancel it when I canceled the chair after doing layout on graph paper - prob. b/c I had seen it later and ordered it separately from the other pieces). I did see a Mission style recliner (don't know manufacturer) in local furniture while out table-hunting last week, didn't see to work and it was $1010. I mentioned it to salesperson, she said they'd just gotten it in (though it had a Sold ticket on it that had been scribbled over so maybe someone else thought it wouldn't recline either?), often mechanisms are strapped down for shipping. Maybe I'll take DH to see it this w/e, but I need to get rid of a wing chair and ottoman in our BR, move my Goodwill silk moire chair out of the LR, and the coffee table I'm not going to use out too so we can *fit* a recliner. DH refuses to sit in the GW chair, and I will only let him sit on the sofa if he takes his Blackberry off (already scratched the wall with it moving coffee table in) so he just lies on the floor! Do you think dark brown (almost black) leather on the Morris chair would look OK with the existing furniture? It had dark "oak" (ash?) stained frame that looked to be fairly close to the "chocolate cherry" (half Spanish Oak, half Red Mahogany Old Masters stain) on the rest of the furniture.

Lovesummer, your room is really pretty. You have mixed the green and beige very nicely. Thanks to everyone for the reassurance about the green sofa. I can't believe I might be abandoning my "beige" living room that I had planned for the past year, but I have to say I really love the green. I know I may grow tired of it in a few years, but that could happen with beige as well. The beige could also look dirty in a few years, not from that much use - living room not used much, but from my two dogs who like to rub themselves along furniture. I know I'm rationalizing. I am going to post another thread today with a couple difference fabric choices I have picked out for 2 accent chairs. Hope I get alot of help again!

Hope you got it, did't read all comments (37) here but that chair is a definite go. It was designed c. 1958 and that it's very still popular, should say a lot. In Design Within Reach lists for around $2450 last I saw that may say something too. Plus it should last forever. And be out-of-this-world comfortable from the start. He - its designer, Charles Eames, along with designer wife Ray to be fair, pioneered ergonomics. Notice the black and aluminums airport chairs you've seen all your life; same mfr, same designer. they.hold up If you get a knock off, make sure it's exact, not just the concept but in welded steel and polyester The steel welds can break and will render a bulky foot piece in any case, it's tat elegant star base that carries a lot of the visual appeal and always will. And poly can make you sweat.

Thanks for your comments, I'll address them individually below: decoenthusiaste: Every day it's just me and my husband. TBH, we don't use the LR a lot on weekdays because we're really busy. I use the side part by the bookcases or catlandia for yoga at night. Sometimes we watch a little TV at night. We entertain a little, but usually no more than than 6-8 people total. Most often when we entertain it's another couple over with us. The fireplace is wood burning, and requires work and tending, and you really can't get super close to it because it gets very hot. We love it though, but only use it about 6 months per year. I suppose the tv is more of the focus than the fireplace in some ways. I don't love the bookcases either, and we plan to replace them at some point. We set the room up the way we did because I feel like having a sofa that's parallel to the closets creates a hallway of sorts, and sets the room up better than this big space that needs more anchoring. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but the previous owners had it set up the way you described and I really hated the way it looked and felt. it made that left side of the room feel scrunched up against like that 1/3 of the room and made the rest of the space feel weird. because of where the fireplace is, almost in front of the front door, it makes it an awkward space to gather in front of. but I could be completely wrong here and I want to keep an open mind before we purchase anything, which is why I'm here! Also, side note, my husband is extremely particular about leather and only wants a leather sofa, and very specific kinds of leather, but is willing to compromise on side chairs with fabric.
