Comments (11)I have the same problem with Betty White as you can see by the rose that's on the top left. I think it's thrips but the problem seems to get a little better as the weather gets hotter and dryer so maybe it's a problem linked to humidity? I took this photo this morning and I think there's less damage now than earlier this spring. I love BW's strong fragrance but with so many petals stuffed together, the blossoms seem get mushy or squishy? I'm thinking of gifting her and getting another rose equally fragrant in this color that won't be a thrip magnet. Might be hard to find though! Comments (10)Yes, the letter was to me. After giving it some thought, I'm pretty sure I know why I wrote to her. By 1989 I had a lot of local contacts in the field of animal rights, but since Betty's letter went on to suggest that I contact the Executive Director of the American Humane Association (and she paved the way for me by contacting him herself), my letter must have been about a fairly big issue--most likely a dog-breeding facility that was planned during that time period for a remote area of our rural county. The dogs were to be bred to be sold to laboratories for experimentation. As it turned out, the facility was built and functioned for years, despite failing some inspections. It eventually closed down....See MoreBetty White’s Carmel house for sale
Comments (31)Why the white carpet? I wonder how long it's been there, but it does give the house a sort of "Miami Vice" look. That's my main complaint, and the light fixture in the bathroom can easily be changed. I do like the furniture. I also like all the windows facing the ocean, but I'm done with living at the beach at this point in my life, unless it would be the Italian Riviera or maybe the Amalfi Coast, and that's not happening. I remember going to see the Doris Day movie, Move Over Darling, which was supposed to be set partially in Monterey, but at the time, the only "Monterey" I knew of was Monterrey, Mexico, as I used to listen to radio stations from there at night as a child. I was shocked to see an ocean associated with Monterrey, as I knew how far inland it was. The film crew did not go north of Point Magu, and so they never made it as far as Monterey Bay, however....See More- 2 years ago
