Need help with furniture layout
Comments (8)Is that a movable FP? Try swapping it with TV and floating the sofa facing it . Use the two blue chairs at the window and entirely on the rug because they're leggy. You could pull that blue into the dining room with new upholstery on the chairs and even take it into the kitchen with accents. Blue looks great with yellow. Art above FP should be no wider than the firebox opening and should hang 5" above the mantel. The dining chandy is hung too high and is too small. I'd like to see you move it and the table to have room for the cabinet to be aligned with them rather than in the corner. If you want to use all your chairs, I think you could consider setting up the dining room as your TV space with the two armchairs facing TV on the "stone" wall. Then in the living room the dining set could go at the FP end and the sofa and two chairs around the FP placed on your current TV wall....See MoreOdd Shaped Family Room-Need Help with Furniture Layout!!
Comments (8)I like your current arrangement. For more seating, you can use two longer sofas in the same arrangement. Or a sofa with two chairs as you have it but without the ottomans. That leaves room for a backless bench type of seating to face into the conversation area that wouldn't interfere with the TV. With any options, your seating area is rectangular, so a rug would be fine to use. You may have room for a narrow console table behind the sofa facing the tv, if you place a sofa there....See MoreSOS - Need Help With Furniture Layout - Open Concept Living/Kitchen
Comments (15)Hi @Allyson Jones, please consider the following arrangement of furnishings. This is meant to give you a lot of flexibility, more seating options for gatherings with family or friends. The carpet would need to be rotated one quarter turn every so many months so it wears out evenly given that you have traffic to the guests quarters. Do not be fret over empty walls. Empty space is very importance. Add only things that matter to you, that bring you joy, that tell the history of your family. Avoid home goods stores, all those cute items go out of style quickly. Keep only two of the stools. Endeavor to use the dining room table more. It is important for a family to turn off the tv and focus on each other. Use this plan to measure how the sofa unit should fit in the space. Use a glass coffee table to keep the space visually lighter. The chair in the corner can be a funky statement piece, either by its shape or color. If you do place a chair there, replace the light fixture currently in that corner with a floor low-wattage canister light on a timer, so it automatically turns on at night, and off a few hours after you go to sleep. Such lights, on the corner of a room, produce a very warm and inviting effect. I hope this helps....See MoreNeed help with furniture layout to determine final room size
Comments (20)My husband and I have done what you suggested by drawing up some plans We have started with the smaller version. Thank you for your offer of help. I think we are both realizing that we can’t get everything we dream of in the space as originally planned. He does not want to put a tv in front of a window because of the wiring etc. can be seen on the outside. He has mentioned also that with this size of room, it may be difficult to sit back far enough to view a TV. In terms of dining, since we seldom have a crowd for a sit down meal, I suggested that we not put a permenant dining table in. We can rent a table as the need arises and rearrange the room. If I can move my china cabinet to this space, it will open room in my 12x12 dining room so I can get a larger table in that room. If we use swivel chairs in the addition, we can easily turn the chairs for viewing or conversations. The posted picture is the latest version of our possible furniture layout. Floor lamps would go on each side of the sofa. The door to the left of the sofa will be a door size window so no traffic will go in and out here. The coffee table will be a padded bench with a tray. This plan may still be too tight We would love to see your thoughts with the original size space or the larger version....See MoreRelated Professionals
