Graywings, try searching on "cable management" on the Ikea site. But that search doesn't seem to pull up everything they have, unless they've discontinued some items this year. Also check out the Ikea Hackers blog. Search on "cable" and you'll pull up lots of posts where people have come up with solutions for the cables. And do go back to Apartment Therapy and search on "cable control" or "cord control." There are hundreds of entries with various DIY or purchased solutions. My own solution for computer cables is a) an iMac (just has fewer cables and also has cord control built in) and b) an old desk with drawers and a "modesty" panel, so all I have to do is drop the cords behind the desk and they are hidden and c) wireless router and printer, to eliminate a few cables. My one tip is to label all the cords with what they are for. Saves a lot of time and bother. The ThinkGeek website also has a few options for cable control.

I've had the PB Bedford Desk for about 7 years. I purchased it because it was the only corner desk I could find that was appealing to me. I would not recommend it to anyone. It looks great but the quality is poor. The veneer is very thin and is mostly constructed with MDF. Just not worth the $$. I have been the only person using the desk since my DH has his own and it has had average use. I am getting ready to CL the top and the CPU cabinet. It's been replaced with an IKEA Melltrop dining table that I have seen used as a desk on Houzz.

Can the safe be moved over by the window on the right side? You want to make the most of the long walls for shelving as in your inspiration photo. Empty walls are always just screaming for shelving in my opinion! A desk that incorporates drawers or shelves and a flat space is always better than a simple table like you've got. Either a couple of filing cabinets or two cubbies that are table height will be a great base for the computer desk. I'd run that along the wall where the desk currently resides-I'm assuming the safe is in that corner out of the photo? Then put shelving up on that wall. You can get inexpensive brackets at the hardware store and they sell wood that you can either paint or stain, or melamine covered shelving in lengths up to 12'. They'll even cut them to size for you! A plain hollow core door would make a great desk top-they're cheap at the the Orange Apron hardware store. I always make sure that anything that needs to be plugged in, like the computer, printer, a lamp are closest to the outlets. My office/craft room is tiny but I have a nice wooden desk with drawers on either side, and a farmhouse type table across from one another. A bookcase on one end and a sewing machine table on the other. On the walls I've hung some cabinets I got at Ikea in the clearance section, on all other walls I've hung shelves to hold baskets, books, scrapbook paper, etc. My room doesn't have a floor to ceiling window but there are two windows which limit where I can put things. I haunt thrift stores for furniture I can paint or repurpose, baskets and containers to store things in. Luckily my town has dozens of them, plus a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and we're within an hours drive of Ikea. I've managed to outfit my office on a tight budget, also utilizing Craigslist too.

@User lol at the fact that you are saying we were bad customers. we have been more than understanding. They started the reno in March and my kitchen is still not finished. You all would rather blindly try to make us look like the bag guys than acknowledge that this company was wrong. You’re willing to ignore the fact that this company (unprompted) came to my house proposing to eliminate $35,400 from our total cost just to continue to make me look unreasonable and bad.
